Getting too tall for the miracle blanket wwyd?

We swaddle DS in the miracle blanket at night and it has been great.  The grandparents have been using the sleep sack swaddle during the day which is okay too but he can get his hands out.  My problem is, DS is only 2 months old but his legs are almost to the end of the miracle blanket and the sleep sack when he kicks.  I am not ready to stop the swaddling as he still flails around in his sleep and wakes himself up.  But there's not a bigger size miracle blanket, and there doesn't seem to be a bigger size Sleep sack swaddle either.  Should I just leave his legs out?  Does that work?  I guess I'm scared to change anything that might make our little bit of sleep even less!  What have you done or what did you use to swaddle when your LO got bigger but you weren't done with swaddling yet?

  • Try a large size swaddle me, or use the MB and just leave his legs out of the pouch and just wrap his arms.

  • We recently switched from the miracle blanket and sleep sack swaddles to swaddle me for this reason.  I think DD is going to be swaddled for years, and the Swaddle Me comes in small and large.

How tall is he? I still have ds legs in it, but I plan to just leave them out and wrap them in a blanket if he outgrows it.

The sleepsack swaddle is sooo much better than the swaddleme IMO but they only make a bigger size (small, up to 26" and 18 lbs) in microfleece.  https://www.halosleep.com/products/detail/28/micro-fleece_sleepsack_swaddle/33/micro-fleece_sleepsack_swaddle/

The swaddleme wasn't tight enough, even for my big baby, so I gathered an inch section, folded it, and sewed it tighter.  But she still got out, and it got too short, so we started arms out and then just a regular sleepsack.  We've been at it a week and she's just now sleeping better unswaddled.

  • We just leave DD's legs out of the pouch and it works great! The other option if Miracle Blanket works really well is to cut through the bottom.
