Where do you keep toys? I'm trying to figure out what to sell/pack up/take with and I'm overwhelmed. I don't really care how it looks -- I just want us to be comfortable and have enough without being completely closed in by sh!t. I'm thinking about having some shelves with bins for toys in the living room.
Right now we have a lot of toys in the kids' rooms and then a playroom downstairs. We'll be moving to an apartment with about the same square footage, but less rooms, so there won't be defined areas for play like there are now (my boys will share a room and we'll only have one living room/family room instead of two).
Re: Anyone live in a 2bdrm apartment?
I went from a 3 bdr house to a 2 bdr apt.
I split the toys up...half upstairs in the kids' room, half downstairs in the living room. I have 2 of those wire shelf things from Target and some bins from the dollar store. They make it so easy to organize.
Our apartment is considered "townhouse-style". It's 2 bedrooms but three levels. 1st level is our front door and a garage. We store A LOT in the garage. We put toys she's not currently using in there and then switch them out occasionally. 2nd level is living/dining, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom. She has her toys lined up against one wall. 3rd level is Gracie's room and guest bath, Master bedroom and master bath. We have a HUGE walk-in closet for storage and Gracie has 2 closets in her room. One closet we use for clothes and linens and the other, we have her toybox, stuffed animals and bigger toys.
It's tight, but it works for us. SHe doesn't have a "playroom" either, we just let her pull out what she wants for the day and take them to the living area and then we put them back when she goes to bed.
"kid free" space at night. It's worked pretty well for the past couple years, but I have to say I am BEYOND EXCITED to move into a big old house in the suburbs this summer!
We have something similar to this https://www.bookcasesgalore.com/bookcases/standard/ameriwood9cubebookcase.cfm
in our living room with fabric bins from Target to hold the downstairs toys. They have toys in their bedroom as well that we keep in a similar shelving thing. We also repurposed the changing table and bins that we used with it to hold toys. It's perfect for their height, and easy for them to help when it comes time for clean-up.
