First day back at work and daycare drama

Well actually yesterday was my first day back.  My mom is here keeping the baby this week so it was definitely a soft entrance back to the workforce.  The baby was supposed to start daycare on June 1, but I talked to the center director and now his spot won't be ready until June 15 at the earliest.  Obviously this is an issue.  My husband is staying home with him next week but we weren't sure what we were going to do after that.  My mom works and lives 2.5 hours away so she's a last resort option.  My MIL will only keep him if he stays the week at her house and she lives 2 hours away so I don't even consider her an option.  So as I was scrolling through the hundreds of emails in my inbox yesterday I noticed one about a backup daycare benefit.  To make a super long story short, I enrolled Brayden in the backup daycare program with Bright Horizons.  Since, it's a work benefit I only have to pay a $25 copay for everyday that he attends and work will pick up the rest!  So all is well.

  • I'm glad the transition back is going smooth so far for you. What a bummer that your daycare pushed the date back 2 weeks but thank goodness for the backup daycare program...hey that will save you a lil money for those first 2 weeeks....too bad u couldn't get away with that as full time care~25 dollars a day woould be awesome.

  • That is a bummer about your dc but what an awesome benefit your company provides. I'm glad it all worked out for you.
  • Wow! $25 a day?! That's awesome! My company's "deal" with Bright Horizons is over $1000 a month. I'm glad work is going well with you. Why wouldn't your MIL come and spend the week with you? I guess that's another post for another time. I'm sorry your original plan didn't work out. However, I'm glad your company is coming through for you!!

  • Yikes! How stressful! But that is awesome that you were able to get it worked out through the deal with your company. That's a great benefit!
