I was wondering if anyone can share with me how they knew it was time? I know this sounds lame/stupid but I have no clue ladies. Today I had to call my doctor b/c I had a sudden sharp pain in my lower lower abdomen area. Well the doctor told me I may be experiencing contraction which is scary since I'm a day shy of 25 weeks. I have been recording them since 1:30 on and off. Anywho...any guidence would be appreciated. Thank you ladies!
Re: I have a question from a 2nd trimester
Most of us here had medical intervention tell us it was "time" Very few of us went into spontaneous labor... I can only think of 2 off the top of my head. I, for example, never felt a contraction.
My understanding is you'll just KNOW when it's the real deal... if you have to ask, it isn't time.
Good luck!
I had BH for weeks before I delivered. They were never painful just constant. Anywhere from 8-12 per hour. I was on hosptal bed rest because those BH eventually changed my cervix but once the real labor pains came there was no mistaking it. The best description I can give is this. It felt like the worst leg cramp I have ever had but in my lower area combined with the feeling like I had to poop and the sharp pain of extrem gas pain. Wow, I can't believe I just described it that way LOL. But everyone is different.
If they become consistant call your doctor but I wouldn't worry
I had been on bedrest for 2 weeks, and then put on hospital bedrest. It was time when my bp monitor (set to go off every 15 mins) recorded a reading of 195/125. I was also seeing spots, couldn't breathe because of?pneumonia, was spilling gobs of protein in my urine, and had a horrible pain in my side from my liver.
... or so my husband tells me. I don't really remember much. ?
I had a few early signs I missed, because like you, I didn't know what to look for and honestly early labor hadn't crossed my mind.
Early signs:
-lots of back pain (I'd always had some back pain in the morning, but usually it went away if I walked, and it got noticeably worse one day)
-lots of gooey discharge for a few days (I'd figured it was related to pregnancy hormones...and told DH it looks like I had lots of snot down there...gross)
-What I thought were Braxton Hicks
-The last sign that sent me to the Dr. was I thought I saw a little pit of pinish tint to my discharge - I wasn't even sure if I was imagining it - but after Googling put the pieces together and went right to the DR.
I went to the Dr. and they found my water was bulging out of my cervix and I was dilating. I was 24w2d. They rushed me to the hospital and I layed slightly upside down for 2 weeks, preventing the water breakage, and delivered at 26w2d.
If you are ever concerned, CALL YOUR DR, it probably saved our son's life that I went to the Dr. when I did.
I'm another one of these people. I had no warning, nothing, no BH or anything. I had the perfect pg up until my water broke at 32 weeks. I had an u/s just days before and everything looked fine. Even looking back there were no signs, other than maybe a little nesting the days before. Even after my water broke, I didn't go into active labor until 7 hours later. But then I delivered 2 hours after that.
