I cant figure this out. I had my IUD inserted in Oct, and have had a period every month until this one. My period got lighter and lighter, but it would always last 10+ days.
This month I havent had a period at all. But I swear I still feel like Im on my period. I have all the signs, moody, I feel bloated and just big, my boobs are pretty tender....but there is nothing else going on.
While Im glad I dont physcially have my period....I guess I didnt expect the other sucky side effects too. I am alone in this? Has this happened to anyone else? I have also packed on a few lbs in the past week that really has me puzzled and I am wondering if this has something to do with it and it too will pass. My habits havent changed that drastic to explain the gain.
I know Im all over the place but I am wondering if anyone else has gone through this with the IUD?
Re: IUD Ladies
I don't have an IUD, but maybe since the periods have slowly gone away, the symptoms will too? IDK, that was just my first thought. I actually need to call my OB b/c I want to get one and I'm getting ready to start my last pack of pills.
Are you happy with it overall? Anything you don't like about it? Do you have Mirena?
TMI-can T feel the strings? DH is worried about that.
I still get the pms symptoms: sore boobs, fatique, bloat, etc. But I rarely get a period anymore.
Yes I am happy with it. I will warn you though. I bled for a LONG time when they first put it in. I would suggest just waiting till Fall to get it. It was something like almost 8 weeks straight. Then spotting on and off for another 4 weeks. I was beyond fed up!
I think I finally started reg periods in Feb. I do have the Mirena, no he cant feel the strings. If he can, they will fix that for you.
That has to be it then! Thanks for letting me know......good to know Im not imagining things. I swear the past few days i have questioned whether i was pg or not it was so freaky!

The idea of not getting a period used to freak me out, too, because I thought you had to have one. But, if you're not producing an egg each month, you don't actually need one. I only realized a couple of years ago that the periods you get on BCPs are "fake" periods. Why didn't I know that before?
When I had mine removed (so we could start TTC) the dr told me that I could be anywhere in my cycle. Your body still cycles like normal you just don't build up a lining.
From the Mirena website...
Why your menstrual cycle may change
The reason many women may have lighter periods or stop having periods altogether with Mirena centers on the uterine lining.
Typically, this is how your period works:
Once Mirena is properly placed:
See I thought you still produced an egg on the IUD it just doesnt go anywhere etc.
I can tell my hormones are still the same when it comes to O time. So I guess it makes sense that the symptoms of my period would still be there as well just w/o the period. IDK....its getting too deep for me.

I am pretty sure you still produce eggs which can be fertilized, the IUD just prevents implantation.
