Maclaren strollers

It's about time to hang up the ol' Snap n Go, and DH and I are looking at the lightweight Maclarens. DS is only 5 months and can't sit up on his own yet, so I'm not sure if/when the Volo would be appropriate. Does anyone have the Volo, Quest, or Triumph? Or something similar? Sell me on your stroller, please! We are suburbanites, streets and sidewalks mostly, we don't jog, and I drive a BMW with a pretty small trunk. DH is 6' and gets irritated with how short the handles on the Snap n Go are.

If you love your stroller, also tell me how old DC was when you started using it, and how well they were sitting.

TIA!!

Re: Maclaren strollers

  • We just bought the Quest and really like it so far. DD is tiny and she fits fine in it because it reclines. DH is just under 6ft and he thinks the height is fine. It handles great. We are also suburbanites : )

The only thing its missing is a cupholder.

I have the Triumph. We just started using ours this month. I recline it a bit and he sits just fine. I love it, Jude loves it. It's light enough for me to carry the stroller, Jude and a bag up and down a flight of stairs. I can push it, set it up and fold it down all with one hand (the folding and setting up takes a bit of practice one handed though). It folds up nice and compact. I have a Toyota Echo, so I needed something compact to fit our trunk too.

Here's pic. We just got it, and I hadn't adjusted the straps yet.

  • I have the mod quest.  I like it except it is tippy once they start to walk and can get in and out on their own.  I also have a joovy Kooper, which has a better sunshade, good recline (my 3 year old can nap in it).  It is not as good of quality as the Maclaren, though not bad, but would probably serve you better as an only stroller.

Thanks for this! We have a Peg Perego Skate that is awesome but HUGE, and we need a lightweight alternative for when it's just me. I'd been looking at the Triumph, and it's great to hear you say you love it.

  • We have both a Quest & a Triumph (one stays at my Mom's house). I like the Quest a little better though...it cost a tiny bit more but I feel like it's a bit better quality! The biggest problem with the Volo is that it doesn't recline & I could not imagine having a stroller witout this feature b/c DS always fell asleep when we were out walking! Both fold up really easily & have a shoulder strap which is great if you're travelling. You can get accessories (we have a cupholder & a extra pocket that attaches near the handles). Maclarens are great for taller people b/c of their long handles...DH loves it! We didn't buy ours until C was around 12 mos old but I'm going to use it sooner with B...probably start this summer when he's around 7 mos. Oh, I also drive a BMW so you'll have no issues putting it in the trunk & will still have room for groceries, etc! HTH

  • I have the triumph and DD was fine in it starting about 4 weeks ago. I wouldn't get one without a recline.
  • I might not be a lot of help because I returned my Maclaren before even using it. The stroller barely reclined if at all and I couldn't imagine not having a stroller that reclined! Plus it didn't come with a cup holder or other storage options. An attachement can be purchased seperately. My friends have raved about Maclarens but maybe I just happened to purchase the one that didnt' recline??

My DD is much younger and I was looking for something light weight, not a travel system but would work for a 2 month old. I purchased a Combi instead.
