Pet Peeve

Parents who do not supervise their kids on playgrounds.  In particular, fast-food restaurant playgrounds.

The girls and I were at a Chik-Fil-A today and played in their indoor playground and there were just All these little ones - in the same age range as my girls - playing in there while their moms ate and chatted in the restaurant!  I HATE that.

One of the unsupervised kids shoved Julia down, another (just a bit older than Julia!) had a snotty nose and I had to go get her mom to take care of her when she was sobbing when her sister knocked her down, another knocked down one of the supervised kids making him cry, and then a group of 3 was in there wrestling.

It was unsupervised mayhem!

Re: Pet Peeve

  • I don't have a child yet but whenever I go to those places with friends who have kids and I see those things happen it irritates me.  I saw one kid who couldn't have been older than 15-18 mths not being supervised and he fell over head first from a bench he was sitting on.  He was screaming, I helped find his mom and when I left the little boy ran after me crying, it was so sad!!  I don't think the mom paid much attention.

  • I hear you! I hate that too. I have often been "that mom" on those indoor playgrounds telling other kids what to/not to do.

I have to add.  I hate it when snotty-nosed (GREEN snot!) toddlers go touching the things of a newborn that has not had shots yet!  And the mother just stands there, RIGHT after you tell her the baby is three weeks old, doing nothing to get her grubby daughter's hands off your baby's things.  And then your friend has to tell the kid to keep their hands off and the mother is still clueless.

  • How about unsupervised big kids? Really keep your 11 year boys off the playscape while they are running over my child.
  • you totally beat me abbysmom!  all toddlers should be kept away from newborns, but *especially* green snotty-nosed ones!

And totally agree with you Nessia too -- dreading the start of summer when those big kids will be out in bigger numbers on the playgrounds!
