What the heck is with Twilight?

Not at all preg. related...

I don't get all the hype that surrounds the whole thing. I finally got around to watching the movie last night and to be honest, it was the biggest waste of time ever and probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I was pretty suprised since it got so much buzz, I assumed it would be an awesome movie. Am I missing something?

Also, what is with all the grown women thinking that Edward is so hot. Really? So NMS.

I think you have to have read the books to get it.  Edward in the books is sooo dreamy, I think Rob Pattison just gets love because we remember the Edward from the books.

    exactly!!!

  • Yeah, the books and the movie are pretty lame.

The entire time I'm reading the books, all I can think about are the warning signs for abusive relationships  :P  The acting is especially bad in the movie too.

    perfectly said mooeta!!

  • The books are much better than the movie.
  • Hmm...I might have to read the books. It's just that after the movie, I'm not sure I even want to, I thought it was THAT bad.

  • the BOOKS are where its at...

Move totally sucks compared to the books... only problem is now you will be jilted (sp?) if you do decide to read the books... Robert Pattinson so not MY version of Edward in my head while I was reading the books...but whatever.

So yeah, read the books...I blew through all 4 and Midnight Sun online in like 3 weeks!

  • I agree with pp. The books are better. Rob P not at all what I thought Edward would look like.

I think you need to be a black lipstick wearing teenager to appreciate it. The author herself admitted that she is a lousy writer. A friend who read the books couldn't stop laughing at how the author used the same adjective over and over again. I wish I could remember what it was...
  • I loved the books!  It is not the greatest writing but it IS

  • The books were amazing. Edward's character is superb and makes me want to leave my husband for a 17 year old vampire. He is also WAY hotter in the book (in my head anyway) than Rob Pattison is!

The movie was pretty lame (horrible acting) but I still enjoyed it because of my love for the books.

  • Um... sorry about that.  I have no idea what happened.  I liked the story a lot, and the movie wasn't great but I enjoyed it the same way I enjoy a good/bad 80's high school drama!
  • The books are very good and I thought the movie was OK too.

  • I read all the books and still don't think I fully get it.  I don't know if I will ever see the movie.  I like Edward but not Bella, so I think it might annoy me a little.  I like Bella in the last book, which is a book that a lot of Twilight people don't like.  Oh well.

As a teacher, though, I like to see my kids reading, even if what they're reading isn't what I would choose for them.

  • If you read the books just remember that these books are for teens NOT for adults. If you don't keep that in mind when reading it your not going to like the books

  • I didn't like the movie, and I have been trying to read New Moon for about 3 months now, and I'm only one page like 59 or something. I'm an avid reader, and these books just don't entertain me!

New Moon was the LEAST fav of the books, not enough Edward in it! it gets better towards the end...promise

  • I loved the books and the movie. I bought it the day it came out, and already have a sitter lined up for when New Moon comes to theaters.
  • The books are better than the movie. And the books are terrible if that tells you anything.?
  • Read the books and you'll understand.

The movie is just okay but gets better after watching it a couple of times... but I read the books first so I had more of an attachment to the movie than those who didn't read the books.

    Read the books.

I don't quite get the hype either, but that's why I am starting to read the books.  I borrowed them from non-other than my 15 year old niece who thinks that this series is "the ***".  So, I started book one today.  I've only made it through about 15 pages.  I have two young boys ages 2 and 4.  It's hard to sit down and read without interruptions.  I'll let you know what I think.

  • The books are definitely where all the hype started. I had a friend convincing me for months to read the first and I finally caved when she actually sent me a copy, hehe.

I did enjoy the books and the author's style of writing. I'm not usually into books about vampires and things, but I was hooked on these. Also, New Moon IS a little slow through the middle, but if you keep reading, you will understand why.

I wasn't as impressed with the movie, but that was mostly due to inconsistencies with the book...especially the ending. Also, I think Edward in the book is portrayed as attractive to Bella and it's about how SHE sees him...so although Robert Pattinson wouldn't have been my first choice to cast, there are points where you can see why they picked him.

Just like everything else in life though, it's not for everyone.

I am with you 100% on this.  The girls in my office are ga-ga for all of it. I don't get it at all.
  • The books and movie totally piss me off...you could have put all the books into 2, and it might have been better...just cut out all the teen angst, fer chrissakes. I recommend "TRUE BLOOD" or the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. ?Humorous, lots of twists...and erotic! woo!
