TLC Learning Center (on the Carlisle Pike near Orrs Bridge Road close to ABC Brewery) - $205/week
Also called for rates:
Kindercare (in Enola - also off Wertzville) - $280/week (I think)
Goddard is the closest which is why I didn't even go look at Kindercare since it was more. I liked TLC learning center. It seemed like a nice clean well run facility but I wasn't impressed with their stimulation/education curriculum. We are going with Goddard. I have heard great things about many different Goddard centers (not ours in particular) and they seemed like they had a lot of great programs and really communicate well with the parents on things which I liked.
We go to Children's Family Center, which is located at Messiah Village. We go three days a week and pay $39 per day. I know the part time rate for the infant room was $40 per day, but the full time rate is less per day, maybe around $35-$37? I'm not sure. You pay based upon the number of days in the month.
We like the center because it's convenient for us, he gets good care and they have an intergenerational program where the daycare kids mix with the residents of the retirement home - it benefits both groups and it makes the day more interesting for the kids when they go on "field trips" around the Messiah campus.
We also looked at Kidz Quarterz in Lemoyne and Chesterbrook Academy in Camp Hill. I really liked Chesterbrook, but I couldn't justify the cost and the location was very inconvenient. I've heard good things about the Children's Garden in Shiremanstown, but we didn't even look there because at the time I was looking, their waiting list was more than a year long - yes, there were kids on the list who had not been conceived yet. Figure that one out.
DD goes to Capital Area Children's Center (CACC) in Camp Hill (near the West Shore Y). They only enroll full time infants $202 a week and they only take 6 infants and have 2 full time staff in the room. The cost is $186 a week for the 1 yr old room. Addy loves it there and we are really happy with the facilty and her teachers! They do carry a waiting list at times.
We also looked in Children's Garden in Shiremanstown. If I remember correctly their prices were similar to CACC and they offer part time for infants. We chose CACC over them b/c I have friends that work in the CACC building and also friends who raved about it.
DS goes to Children's Garden in Shiremanstown. We are part time there. There are few centers that offer part time and we were trying to decide between The Children's Family Center at Messiah and Children's Garden. We liked both but chose CG b/c you could pick the days of week that you wanted to send your child & it was closer for us . We pay $130 a week for 3 days. I think it's about $200 for full time. We really like it there so far.
I was al ways curious what the rates were for the other centers in the area. DS goes to the Child Development Center on the Navy Base since I work there and I pay $262 every 2 weeks full time which includes everything except diapers and wipes. We didn't check really anywhere else since I knew the center was top notch, convenient and cheaper than most other places. The only other place I had considered if we couldn't get into the base was the center at Messiah since it is only a couple of miles from my house.
