For those who make their own baby food

How much does a regular recipe make? Like say, 1 mango, or 1 moderately sized sweet potato, a 1/2 cup of carrots, or 1 apple, ect?

I am looking into starting to make DS's food, and just wanted an idea on how much food to buy to make 2 weeks worth of food. TIA

Re: For those who make their own baby food

  • I haven't made too many things yet, but I made sweet potatoes a week ago. I used 8 sweet potatoes and I ended up with 80 ounces of food.

I also made one large butternut squash and it yielded about 48 ounces.

  • yeah squash and potatoes go far.

I buy the steam fresh bags of green beans, peas and broccli and that usually makes about 20 oz of food.

carrots...get a huge bag (not baby carrots) and those go very far too. well over 2 weeks.

I apple is about 6 oz's maybe...hard to say. I definetly go through fruit much quicker than veggies!

I got one eggplant and it made about 18 oz, and 2 zucchini's made 24 oz

    1 ice cube= 1 oz.

    good luck! It's so fun!

  • I did about 3 medium sized sweet potatoes the other day and I think I got about 24 ounces.  I did butternut squash over the weekend and I got tons, maybe 64 ounces.
