What kind of formula do you use?

Due to a MRSA breast infection which led to a breast abscess which led to an anaphalytic reaction to the medication I was taking to heal the infection, I am officially done with breastfeeding. I think I'm okay with it, as I was planning to start weaning DD in 2 weeks anyway.

So, I started using a sample package of formula that I had. DD seems fine with it, but maybe a bit more gassy than normal.

What kind/brand/flavor of formula do you use and why?

  • we use Similac Isomil Soy Formula when we need to supplement. It has been great! No extra gassiness, hardly any spit up. She spits up more on my boob most days! lol

  • target/walmart brands of similac advance. it's the only one he does well on.
  • Used every similac variation on the market. Similac Sensitive seemed to work best for him at the time. Now he's on Enfamil with rice due to reflux--it's thicker so babies with reflux tend to spit it up less.
  • Enfamil ProSobee. Because the he was spitting up the regular Enfamil, and it was coming up chunky...so it wasnt sitting quite right in his belly. He does great on the ProSobee though.

  • Similac Advanced Early Shield... It was the sample I had at my house when we realized we were going to have to supplement.  (My milk never came in.)  She's done very well on it though.

Similac Advance Early Shield (generic from Target or Wal Mart).  It was the only formula we tried that didn't make DS constipated.  He had really bad gas/gas pains early on with other formulas, but I don't think it was because of the formula.  I think he just outgrew it.

  • Similac Isomil Advance (soy formula)- recommended by the pedi due to DD having a potential milk allergy.

  • We use Similac Organic.  DD never really took to any of the others the way she took to this one. And even though it's the exact same as Advance I'm scared to switch back for fear she won't like it.

  • GoodStart - the green one.  Tried every Similac product and even Enfamil Nutragamien -- nothing worked except GoodStart.
  • Similac Advance with Early Shield, It's what they gave him in the hospital and he's been on it since. He does have reflux and spits up a lot but the doctor doesn't think we need to switch him.
