I guess there is talk about not letting people smile in their D-license photos, and some states already don't allow it. I just look like a bee-otch when I'm not smiling, won't make for a cute picture!
I have a smart a$$ friend who got into trouble by insisting on smiling (think ridiculously huge, dopey, large grin) in his picture...they kept telling him they couldn't let him do that. He was a pain until they gave in.
I'm smiling normally in mine, but it's still an awful picture.
I watched a special on Oprah a long time ago about how to take good DMV pictures. She said to stand behind the line and then turn slightly, and then smile. I have done this ever since I watched her show and have had some good pictures! My license would look pretty scary if I wasnt smiling!

see I have heard of states not allowing this ( you must be looking head on) but never the smiling thing. I know when I got my license NJ was very behind on the digital licenses and if you were under 21 you faced sideways and over you faced forward, so there was no angling allowed.
anyway- i smiled in mine-

I had to update my license recently and I had to take off my glasses and I was not allowed to smile. I told the woman taking my picture that you'll never catch me without my glasses so why can I wear them? It's a new law apparently to make us look awful. Thanks INDIANA!
Went on last Friday to replace lost license. They did not allow me to smile. Fortunately when I got home my old license had been turned in and mailed to me. Virginia is officially a no smiling state!
Re: are you smiling in your dmv picture?
Whaaaat? I've never heard of that.
Well, the last time I took a pic for my license was right after my wedding when I needed a new one with my married name. So, heck yeah I was smiling.

I was only halfway listening, something about face ID software and how it's easier for it to match faces when they're not smiling....?
