1st Trimester

Sooo hard not to spill the beans.

Was out with one of my girlfriends today and I said something to her, and she said "so no pregnancy this month?" and I had to outright lie to her.. then she went on to say she wants to go to Six Flags this summer.. I told her "Well unless one of us get KU, anyway..." and she said "we better go SOON!"

Argh!!  I hate lying.. but I don't want to say something too early either.  DH thinks I should even wait a few weeks to tell my parents, even though my gyno's nurse said I could go ahead and tell them.

Must... resist..

I've had to lie as well.

We did tell parents and a few close friends, people we'd want to know if we lost the baby.

DH has actually told pretty much everyone he works with! LOL... it's fine with me, there is no overlap between our social circles and his CWs.

  • I actually did tell ONE person today.. but swore her to secrecy, and she said we aren't even to talk about it for a long time to come-- but the reason I told her was that my normal gyno doesn't have the OB insurance anymore so couldn't see me, and I needed a referral.. and I knew this friend absolutely LOVED her OB and everyone in their practice.. so I figured she was the one to go to.
  • I'd like to keep it baby#2 a secret until the family reunion in August but I don't know if I can.  I didn't tell anyone at work that I was pregnant with my first unitl I was 18 weeks.

I'll probably tell my mom, sister & one aunt at Aaron's Bday party.  I haven't decided yet.

  • I hear you!  We told our parents and siblings yesterday as well as our best friends.  Today, at work, we were making assignments for our October convention and mine requires lots of standing and long days with no potty breaks.  I almost said, "but I'll be very pregnant by then!" but didn't.  I really hope to wait until I am at least 8 weeks before I spill the beans at work.  12 would be better, but I don't know if I can wait that long!
  • I didn't see your BFP post, congratulations!!!!!!!
  • I was the same way for the first few days. Now I kind of love that I have this little secret.  It's funny though, because a few CW's who know how long we tried (over 2 yrs) asked yesterday how TTC was going...and I had to lie!
  • I totally feel your pain.  DH and I are planning the announcing but it's still more than 2 weeks off, which seems like an eternity!!  I also feel like, and maybe this sounds weird, maybe people can tell...  I'm 90% sure they can't but because I feel bloated etc. I just assume that the world also sees me like that.  ...Countin' down the days!

Thanks darlin'! Mrs. Phunk, I know what you mean... I know I don't show it but my tiredness and need to sit down from feeling iffy once in awhile, I feel like if anything that's going to give it away... Or if friends REALLY notice I'm not drinking anymore.
  • I agree it was so hard not to tell i was soo excited that we were pregnant :0) i told close friends and family i just couldn't help it i have not told everyone yet...its soo very hard not to though
  • My girlfriend came over last night and said, "OMG, your boobs look GREAT in that shirt!!!!  They are HUGE!!!"  I didn't say a word.

We are trying to keep it a secret too, my I think my 16 year old daughter might be on to something. She is "commenting" on my bloat!!!

  • I really wanted to wait, but we ended up spilling to DH fam bc his dad was in the hospital and DH wanted to cheer him up.  Then we HAD to tell my fam.  I've told some friends, but still not wide spread yet.  We FINALLY have the 1st doc appt this Thurs, so I will feel a bit more comfortable after that, but I still am nervous.

Good luck keeping your secret.  My DH and I are horrible at keeping our pregnancies secret!!  We just found out and already so many people know!!  I think we were worse this time than the first two.  We've been wanting this for the last year and everyone has been nagging us on when we were go to TTC #3.  We didn't tell anyone we were TTC, but as soon as we found out we told everyone!!

    Congrats btw on the baby!!

  • Yeah outright lying does suck!  I have a friend coming to visit and she keeps talking about drinking like our old college days.  I may just have to tell her, which is so weird since I haven't even told my closest, closest friend.  I am going to tell my family this weekend, but only beacuse if something happpened I would want them to know anyway.  I keep thinking of all these summer parties we have and to keep coming up with excuses why I am not drinking is just frustrating.  I sound like this huge drinker and the funny thing is I'm not but I have such nosy/interested friends I guess! :)
  • P.S.  I also find it hysterical that the check out lady at Barnes and Noble knows before my mother, as I just bought a few pregnancy books.  Felt so odd! ;)
  • I told one lady at work today. She is on my team (we're both executives) and we just traveled overseas together.  She knows that I was TTC...she has three daughters my age.  I wanted to tell her so that she could give me advice on the company's protocol with telling our board of directors.  Our meeting with them in in June (I'll be 8 weeks) and the next one is in October (26 weeks!).

She said I can just tell them via email before I see some of them again in late July (13 weeks).  I feel better knowing that one coworker knows my little secret.  Especially since I have more travelling to do in June and July.  Plus she helps make the staffing assignments for our convention in October and now that she knows I will be well into my second tri, she will take that into consideration and not give me something that has me on my feet all day.

BTW, I work with all women...I am guesing some will figure it out before I tell.  Especially since I am in the bathroom every hour!
