I dont' know if that's a dumb question or not. You use romaine for cesar salads, iceberg for garden salads...just wondering if there was a certain kind for Greek. I know you can use whatever you want buuuut.....
I've always used romaine...this is what my friend's ex-boyfriend whose parents were off-the-boat Greek used. Don't know if that makes it any more authentic!
Apparently a true greek salad has NO lettuce. It is green peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olives & feta cheese in a greek vinagrette. This is from my friend's greek grandmother. It may depend on what part of Greece they are from??
I usually add red peppers and green leaf lettuce. Sooooooo yummy!

Im pretty sure you use romaine.
and greek dressing. greek vinaigrette I think. can you go to panera? they have an AWESOME greek dressing and you can buy it in a bottle. yum.
this is a really yummy creamy dressing. I use all milk and some plain yogurt to thicken it up a wee bit.
1/2 cup olive oil 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar 1 teaspoon sugar 2 garlic cloves, minced fine 1 teaspoon dried oregano (mediterranean) salt & freshly ground black pepper 3/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled 1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk, but buttermilk is best)ditto!!!
I also add kalamata olives and crumbled fetta.
REALLY BOF!! I LOVE Panera's greek salads. You just made my whole world by informing me I can buy their greek dressing! Many much kisses to you!!!
Breezee, that recipe sounds divine and I will try it!!
