Cleaning cookie sheets question.

I have cookie sheets that are stained with a dark substance.  Try as I might to scrub it off, it is still on there... all gross looking.  I have tried using tin foil, tried powdered dish washer soap, and just scrubbing the crap out of it with Brillo pads.

Any tips for getting them nice and shiny again?

Re: Cleaning cookie sheets question.

  • Get them a little wet, sprinkle baking soda on them and scrub with a wet cloth.

  • I'd try scrubing w/ baking soda - that's what works on ours.  Don't know if the dish washer soap would have worked as well or not.

  • I have some like that too. ?I just line them with foil or parchment when I use them now.

  • You do reach a point where they won't clean anymore than they have.

And in reality, there are ways that the seasoned pans are better. They actually absorb and retain heat better than the shiny ones. And you can usually lower the temp in your oven by 25 degrees if you're using them.
