Hangover vs. Morning Sickness

are yours similar?  I'm not a big puker with a hangover and thus far have been spared that with MS.  Although I do feel like I want to hurl all day long, it just reminds me of how I feel when I have a bad hangover.  How does your MS compare to hangovers you've had?

Re: Hangover vs. Morning Sickness

  • Crying I've never had a hangover!!!

I am pathetic! Ive never even been "buzzed"

  • it's like the world's longest hangover.  i puke, i feel generally nasty, i crave greasy food...

    yuck.

  • absolutely, like a hangover that doesn't go away. And a little worse for the most part...

Exactly the same! I was just thinking of this comparison today. I just started getting this feeling in the last few days... I feel tired, a little headachey behind the eyes, dehydrated, and slightly nauseated, hungry but picky about what I can eat. Exactly like my hangovers used to be back in the day.
  • Yep, luckily I seem to be feeling a little better this week, but I definitely felt like I had a hangover that wouldn't end for a long time.

  • I haven't had much m/s but wouldn't think you'd have that dizzy/headachey/fuzzy feeling.  It's just the nausea part of it, right?

Oh no I get all of that with a hangover.  I wonder if how bad your hangovers are is directly proportional to how bad your MS will be?

  • I tell my husband that all the time.  I feel like every day I have a hangover. It varies from just a little "ohh no I shouldn't have had that 3rd glass of wine" hangover that just makes you feel a bit poopie, to the  full on "what happened last night and why was my bar tab $100" hangover.
  • Yep.  Pretty similar without the drunk feeling.  ::sigh::

For me that's exactly it - dizzy/headachey/fuzzy. It's exactly the same feeling.

  • completely different, in my experience.

Hungover, I feel sore and have monstrous headaches.  Nausea is a small part of it.

My m/s (which has kicked in ::sarcasm "yay!"::) consists of me feeling completely normal, then puking mid-whatever I'm doing at the time.  I'm not even nauseous most of the time.

  • My m/s was pretty close to my "slight" hangover....like 1 or 2 drinks too many. Nothing like my WAY too much to drink make myself throw up kind of hangovers though. But pretty consistent with the my stomach hurts and I could eat, but I don't feel good, but maybe a piece of pizza or french fries would help kind of feeling. Thankfully its mostly gone now.

  • I've never had a hangover. What I can compare my m/s to is seasickness. I used to live on a ship. While at sea, I would occasionally get queasy, but nothing too extreme. One day, we were in a particular open part of the sea and had waves at heights of about 20 feet. It was a small ship, too, so those waves affected it very much. I was definitely seasick that day. It was complete misery. I remember sitting at my desk, leaning my head against the wall behind me, trying to move only my arm when I had to answer the phone. I only puked 3 times that day, much less than some of my more seasick-prone shipmates. But, the fatigue, misery, nausea, etc, are very like m/s. Except, when I was seasick, I went to bed after work and woke up the next morning to calm seas and no seasickness. I have not had similar relief to m/s.

    me neither. =]

  • I still have not thrown up yet BUT I feel nauseous ALL DAY LONG.  In the morning I feel like I have a hangover - like a bus hit me and I am dead weight.  A smoothie usually helps give me a kick, but after that I now eat bread-ish things all day to try to avoid feeling sick.  Hopefully this is short term....
  • I didn't really have m/s - just some mild nausea off and on - but I remember feeling hungover during the early days and weeks of my pregnancy. I even remember telling DH I felt like I had a perpetual hangover. I just felt overly tired and lethargic, dehydrated, a little headachy, a little nauseated... everything you feel when you're hungover. Or coming down with something, which is the other way I remember describing it.
  • It feels alot like a hangover, especially the craving greasy food and crap.  Id kill for some chips and dip right now.

  • I've only been hung over once and I think that was extreme.  To the point that I can't stand the smell of beer or any other type of alcohol, lol.  This to me is more like a really bad stomach virus.
  • Yes...that is what I have thought all along.  My m/s is just like when I have a hang over down to the very last part.  I was miserable until I got some sea (psi) bands.

  • With a hangover you know that it will end in hours and the next day unless you continue to drink will go away. With M/S this sucker came at 6 weeks and parked its ugly butt in my life ever since.
  • It's a similar feeling for me, only much worse. Ick.

Same for me. I even have the tired headache that I get when I have a hangover. The light doesn't bother me like it does when I have a hangover but other wise I'm with you!
  • thats EXACTLY how I described my MS, like having a hangover (while riding the tea cups at Disney World for too long)

    ?

    hang in there!?

  • 100% agreed! I actually used the "I'm hungover" excuse today when a coworker came into the bathroom as I was puking....  Lovely.
  • THat is exactly how I described it to people!  I would always say "imagine having a hangover all day for 5 weeks" once you say that, some people are more sympathetic ;)

  • I was just saying this to DH this morning.  I have never puked when drinking or hung over and not with m/s either.  But I feel lethargic and icky, and heartburn, and watery mouth, and thirsty, and hungry kinda.

     Hahah the irony!

P.S. Moo I thought you were asking us to tell you if you were hung over or if it was m/s (ahhhhhhh.)

  • It's exactly how I describe it to DH and my friends. I usually get super hungover if I am going to get one. I feel like I can't get out of bed and I feel like I'm going to throw up all day but don't. The dehydration is wicked too.?
  • I had my first bout of morning sickness yesterday, I'm six and a half weeks along. It was the worst five minutes ever. I'd take a hangover any day of the week over that. Dizziness, sweating, and absolutely no color on my face. I laid down in bed as I was getting ready for work and thankfully it passed.

This is pretty much me....all.the.time.  It doesn't stop.  I am beginning to wonder who named Morning Sickness "Morning Sickness" because it should be called "All day sickness", that's what I have...I hear it's going to get better and I can't wait!!!

Saltines and ginger aisle and try toast have been my best friends...Good luck!!
