baby carriers and airport security

Know that you will have to pass the Bjorn through the x-ray machine like a piece of luggage and walk through w/ JUST your baby in your arms.  I thought that part was a PITA.

Is this for any baby carrier? I have a moby wrap, and I was going to wear it and the baby at the airport. If I have to take it off though...

And why do I need to take it off? It's cotton. Does the bjorn have metal or something?

    Yes, any carrier. They will make you carry the baby in your arms when you walk through. They make you take off any jackets, sweaters, etc...

    It is a PITA...but it is what it is.

    You do not need to take the moby off. I have walked through security with DS in the moby at multiple airports, and have never been asked to take him out or the moby off.

    Not true for me. I guess be prepared to take him out and just hope that you don't have to. They make me carry him in my arms in three airports - Boston, Raleigh and the small airport here where I live.

    My airport--a really tiny one--said I had to carry him through. And I could not wear him on the plane.

    I went through security with my DD when I had to meet my mom at the gate - I had her in the moby and I didn't have to take her out.

    My Mom works for TSA.  The rules say you are supposed to take them out of any type of carrier, but like anything the rules aren"t always followed.  We've flown 4 times and had to go through 5 check points.  I've had to take him out zero times.  Large airports too.  It depends.  I'd be prepared to take them out but don't unless told to.
