Even babygaga is on the HATERS for NJ list.. their ticker states something about how if someone else asks about the baby being born they are going to "dropkick them to New Jersey"
WE really aren't that bad!
I love NJ
Thats all!

Plus we don't take well to visitors! Let alone banished people

Re: Why does everyone HATE New Jersey?
I have no strong feelings towards NJ one way or the other.
Call me Switzerland. I'm neutral.
hey now, i'm a native NJian...and if anyone mocks it, watch out, cause i'll get all New Jersey on them!
(Yes, i used NJ as a verb!)
I'm from the south and though I've heard jokes about New Jersey, I don't really get what the problem is.
A friend of mine is from NJ and I think she's awesome.
RH of NJ are so trashy, i love it. They're from the area im from, and there's not much exaggeration either!
the woman who was engaged 19 times kind of scares me...her face doesn't move
I lived in NJ for 8yrs and love it
they hate it because it's awesome
It's people like that which RUIN NJ. We do not encourage them... stupid tv shows find the few idiots in this area and glorify them and we don't have accents like they show on TV. That's Long Island girls! hahaha
I have always heard that NJ was trashy- trash wise, not people. I heard that the whole state has an odor to it. I doubt that, and I am sure that every state has an odorous part somewhere. I am from MD, so we have our fair share of trash (litter and other) as well as smelly places.
I have been to NJ once, and didnt have a problem with it.
I think the place that gets made the most fun of is West Virginia, and I have been there to and dont have a probelem with it.
I grew up here and live here again now.... I have lived in the tampa area and New Orleans and can say people from those areas mostly think bad things about NJ b/c:
-all the people they have met from there are rude tourists with annoying NJ accents
-the only time these people have been to our state is to fly into Newark and go elsewhere- and yeah, Newark is gross.... as is the NJ turnpike in many areas- again, when people are driving through that is all they see.
I'm glad people hate NJ - i don't want more people moving her- it's crowded enough
I love it here- we have everything within an hour drive, good schools, good culture, etc.
i really can't stand shows like the Sopranos, RHof NJ and now Cake Boss- showing only ONE tiny type of population in NJ.... the majority of people who live here are nothing like those people.
And most of the state is nothing like what people think of when they think NJ --- anything south of New Brunswick IMO, is not really NJ- it's more like PA
Same goes for towns west of where I live and up in Sussex County - it's like traveling to another state!
B/c people don't know anything about NJ! Especially snobby Manhattanites who only see the infrastructure that supports so much of their lives, who have maybe only driven on the turnpike down to Philly and seen only ugliness. So much of the state is actually quite lovely!
Plus, according to my DH who grew up in Monmouth County, you have Federici's pizza, no? (Did I spell that right?)
Plus you have better bagels than we can get in CA. Nuff said.
same here!
Jersey=awesome shore and home of Bon Jovi and The Boss. C'mon.
This for SURE!!!! I live in a small town on the shore side of monmouth county and it's beautiful here. We have beaches, lakes, camping, water parks, all things within minutes of us.. It isnt until the summer when all the people flock to the shore and dirty up our beaches with their hair gel and guido hats that we get the bad wrap!
The stinkiest part of NJ is Elizabeth, NJ...that's why ppl say that NJ smells...because they drive down the Turnpike from the north and can't help but get hit by the stench of Elizabeth. But i agree, anything south of the new Brunswick area isn't NJ to me...well, except for the Joysey Shoah (gotta pronouce it right!!). I'm from the Bergen County area and frankly, it's darn nice!
the one thing i find funny is when NJ folks refer to where they live based on what exit they're from. I can't help it!!!
Speaking of NJ, who has watched MTV's True Life : I'm a Jersey Shore Girl...
The accents, the outfits, the guidos, the clubs, the tans, EVERYTHING...makes me cringe!!
It's the armpit of America! The only good thing about Jersey is that you don't have to pump your own gas. I've watched the True Life shows about the beach scene in New Jersey w/ the guidos and the girls with fake nails and I was completely traumatized. It sounds like Hell on Earth to me.
I'll take the shores of the Carolinas over stinky NJ any day. *shuddering*
Because we're small... bigger states like making fun of us. But I'm not a fan of people dissing my state, either.
I think the issue is how NJ is portrayed. People must think we're like "The Sopranos" or "Real Housewives of NJ" (haven't seen it) or they only see Newark Airport and the Elizabeth/NJ Turnpike area.
Most people don't see the farms (we ARE the Garden State for a reason) or the suburbs or the shore and think we're just the factory/industry area near the Hudson River and the Atlantic (re: shipping ports).
There are good and bad places in EVERY state. It's just easier to make fun of one that doesn't have its own television network.

Me too!!
Typical... You have watched shows about NJ. Did you notice in those SHOWS .. most people they are following are FROM other places and come to the shore for the summer.... Stay traumatized.. Stay away!!!
Oh, don't worry, sweetie. You couldn't pay me to go to NJ! The horror!
I'm pretty sure the stereotypes of everything Jersey don't help. I despised the couple years of my childhood I lived there, and would rather eat glass than move back. But, that's me.?

Oh, pray tell where YOU live, sweetie. You KNOW everything you see on TV has to be true...
