I missed the show tonight but am reading US magazine- how on earth does she have 40 staffers to fire? And I must have missed the part when she became a celebrity...

HA! I did not read that mag. Why is she firing them?
Her "job" is all the speaking engagements she does and the book tour.
It was sad to watch, and I think she was telling the truth about her feelings, but I thought it was such BS how she was acting. She hasn't been that nice to the kids in a long long time. Total damage control. But all the interactions (or non interactions) with Jon was sad. It's sad when any marriage is on the rocks, even this one. I hope the kids come out ok in the end.

I haven't watched in a LONG time. I didn't realize she was mean to the kids. That's just sad.
Yeah, the whole thing is sad. I've read where she even made a contract with Jon that he can see other women on the side as long as he keeps up with the show since that's their money train. Who knows what's really true. But it is sad.
I got the impression that Jon is no longer living in the house???
So sad for the kids...
I thought that, too especially when he was talking to one of the girls and asking her if she missed him and then she said something along the lines of she doesn't want him leaving all the time. That broke my heart.
the whole thing was terrible. Why she doesn't understand that she's choosing the show over her marriage is beyond me. It's obvious Jon doesn't want to do the show. It's obvious she won't give it up. They both say 'they're doing it for the kids' but that's crap.
Kate was so fake and put on for the "P people" and Jon was genuine towards the kids... Kate saying "If you've seen our show, you know we have to sing happy birthday 6 times!" and knowing which kids thanked her for the party, playing up the martyr role while prepping the party... it just rubbed me the wrong way.

Jon wasn't living out of the house, he "took some time off" and Alexis said she didn't want him to go away again. Since he's the primary caregiver for the children, this makes sense.
His responses to the questions were right in line with how the last season ended, which him expressing desire to no longer be involved with the show vs. her saying that she won't give it up. I am sure it doesn't feel awesome to have your choice career-wise ripped from you because your wife wants/needs to spend all of her time on the road. There needed to be some sort of compromise here, and there clearly wasn't.
Kate was acting super fake, imo, and hilariously, my friend wrote me an email saying "Jon was so unemotional, what a jerk!" Dude, he doesn't want to conduct his life on TV anymore, and I don't blame him!
Watching that show last night was 200% train-wreck. Sad.

ugh. ditto.
so sad to me. soooo awkward.?
So so sad I feel super bad for the kids. Their interactions with each other were awkward.
?
At the same time though, it's a weird feeling that it's a stunt to get more publicity to be fighting then all of a sudden be ok..
?
But who knows.. Kate hasn't been nice to the kids at all like that and especially to Jon.?
Ditto this. I thought the whole episode was super depressing.

I'm happy that Kate was being so nice. Maybe she needed a 'come to jesus' moment to understand how her impatience was effecting everyone else.
Of course its sad for the kids and their relationship, but maybe this will make them all happier in the long run...

It's sad. Really, really sad.
I thought she was horrid and as fake as can be. She clearly doesn't like the publicity that Jon is the victim because she's such a shrew.
I also thought it was super sad that there were like 5 kids at the party.
^THIS.
What you guys said x1 million.
