Raspberry tea and evening primrose oil

Anyone use either?  Anyone here anything on either?  Good or Bad I want to hear it!

Re: Raspberry tea and evening primrose oil

  • I've been drinking the Red Raspberry Leaf Tea for a few weeks now - not every day, but when I feel like having a cup. It isn't supposed to induce labor or anything, just tone your uterus and make your contractions more effective when you do start having them. I really like tea anyway, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to drink it even if it doesn't do much for me.

Evening primrose oil I think comes in caplets that you can stick up your vag to soften your cervix. I don't know much about them or the benefits/risks, I'm trying only to stick with methods that I'd do anyway like walking, sex, eating spicy foods, drinking tea...at least until I get to my due date, if I go past I may re-evaluate my stance on that :-D

  • Thanks- I don't think I could stick it up my vag either, but maybe taking it orally it can't hurt right?
  • I honestly have no idea about taking it orally, but then again I've only read a couple threads on here about it (and both those mentioned inserting it vaginally) and haven't done any research of my own.
  • I thought I read somewhere since it's meant to be taken vaginally it doesn't have as much of an effect orally. BUT I forget where I read that and why they said it.
  • OK maybe I will wait on that one til I talk to my OB I am not sure I want to stick anything weird up my wooha!
  • i've been taking the evening primrose oil (by mouth, 2-500mg tablets) for a little over a week now... i went from 25 percent effaced to 75 so i guess thats pretty good... i dunno if it was necessarily due to the primrose or not but its worth a try... I also tried it suppository style (2 tablets as well) on sat night... i woke up a couple hours later with some pretty good contrax they weren't too regular so i pretty much endured them and went back to sleep but they lasted a good while and i've been having them off and on since... I'm going to try two more tonight so i'll let you know.  From what i've read there really aren 't any bad side effects except you might have an oily vag when you wake up Big Smile
  • hummm...keep me infomed!  I would like to know if it works!
  • from what i've read it can be effective taken orally although maybe more effective vaginally... if you google it there are a lot of articles and testimonials from midwives...
  • oh and it was very inexpensive so i figure it's not like i'm wasting a lot of money on something that i'm not sure will work... I will update you tomorrow on how it goes tonight putting it up there...Wink
