i had a vaginal birth with a 2nd degree tear but i would like to start going on small walks and eventually start running again. how soon did you start? is 3 weeks postpartum too soon?
I had a c-section but started going on small walks with the stroller when DS was 5 days old. I kept them pretty short and slow for about 2 weeks and now at 5 1/2 weeks we go on about a 45 minute walk every morning. I would think as long as you felt ok you could start going on walks now.
see, i get really sore down there if i walk too much. i ran up the grocery store yesterday for just a minute and i was just so sore when i got home. i know that that is my cue that it is too much, but i guess, when will i stop being so sore? it is getting better "down there" but im just anxious to get a little exercise and fresh air and i dont want to damage the stitches or anything. know what i mean?
I started walking right away. So far pretty much everyday we have done some walking outside and it has only been a week. I did not have any tears though and have been feeling great since pretty much right away.
If you are getting sore, then I would say that could be your body saying you are doing too much too soon. But I never had stitches with any of my 3 so I don't know for sure.
I started walking right away as well. Although I do have to say take it easy. I had a vaginal and 3 degree but felt great. Sore but nothing too bad. I tried to resume my normal and well it set me back a bit.
I was a jogger pre-pregnancy as well and stayed pretty much active through out my pregnancy. My little girl will be 4months this week and I have been have been back to jogging a few times a week for almost a month.
Take your time, especially if you are feeling uncomfotable
I had a 3rd degree tear. I started walking about 10 days pp. As far as running, I FELT OK to run at about 4 weeks pp, but my ob saw me that week and told me that I wasn't totally healed, even though I felt fine. She said to wait another 2 weeks (so, 6wk pp) before I started running again.
About 10 days pp I took about a 10-15 minute walk outside and was sore when I came back, a few days later I did another one and felt fine, last week I went for about 20-30 mins and was sore again, just yesterday I did another 30 mins, and felt a teeny bit sore but not too bad. I plan to keep upping the length of time and number of times per week now that I am feeling okay. I don't plan to start running again until after my doc aptmt. Everyone heals at different rates and had differing types of stitches, etc.. so I would just start slow and do baby steps with what YOUR comfort level is, continue to slowly increase as you are able to...you'll be running before you know it!
I stopped running at 28 weeks and walked the rest of my pregnancy instead (if this helps as background). I waited until 4 weeks PP to run - that's basically when I felt 'normal" enough to do so. I definitely peed while running for the first 4 weeks or so, though.
Pain is your signal, so if you're having it, it's too early...

I had a vaginal birth with a 2nd degree tear, too.
DH, DS, and I went for a walk (~1.5 mile) the first day I was home from the hospital. I was pp day 3.
