3rd Trimester

I'm sore and miserable!

As of yesterday, my body has hit an all time low.  I feel like I've carried 50 pounds weights up a flight of stairs 50 times.  My feet are swolen and sore (especially the arches), my legs hurt, my hips hurt, my back hurts and I'm so tired right now I could fall asleep on my desk as I write this.

The strange thing is that I woke up so many times last night having to switch sides, because the side I was lying on was numb.  WTF?!

  • I'm sorry.  You don't have much longer to go...  Good Luck!

  • I switch sides all the time because my hips get sore.  Have you tried a body pillow?  I just put a regular pillow under my belly and that helps.

A few weeks ago, I didn't sleep all night and was all sore, so I took a day off of work and relaxed all day.  It was definately the all time low of my pregnancy and just taking a day off and having time to myself helped a lot.

    Hope you feel better!

Ya - I've been doing this since day one.  It's the recent numbness I don't understand though.

  • I hear you, I was like that on Saturday, I could not sleep, but luckily it went away. I still have a hard time catching my breath during the day but I think that is my worst. I hope you feel better soon!

Must be ?a Toronto pregnant woman thing. I flipped like a fish last night - same issues, my ankles and feet have started to swell and under my right boob feels absolutely raw but there are no welts or outward signs of why I'm in pain 24-7.

Now I have to walk to work. Not a big deal - usually - but I've discovered recently that I can't eat and then walk because the effort my body takes to digest the food means I can't exert any additional energy as I have none to give.

I think I need a scooter cart or a segway.?

  • aw i feel your pain! Its just been the last few days that i have been feeling extra achy too. Sleeping is going ok, although my hips are starting to hurt during the night.I have been propping myself up a lot so I can still sleep on my back which helps a ton. But my feet are killing me at the end of the day! I have had to start wearing sneakers with All my outfits even my dresses and skirts(which dh says looks silly!) but it really helps!  Good Luck we only have a bit more to go!!

  • Argh, I completely sympathize with all of your symptoms.  For me, the cankles and the numbness were the worst.  And I hate to tell you that it only got worse (for me, anyway).

As far as that numbness thing... I have it too.  It started at 35 or 36 weeks.  There's really no real relief for it for me.  It happens to me every single night.  Whichever side I'm laying on goes numb, and I simply flip to the other side.

My doc had no real recommendations (other than sleeping on my left side, which I already do until it goes numb, then I switch to my right, or, sleeping in a recliner).  I tried the recliner route.  I just can't sleep sitting up.  But, if you can sleep sitting up, I'd definitely try a recliner and see if that helps.

Another tip the doc gave me (which hasn't helped me, I don't think, but it's worth a try) is to try to keep the arm on the side you're laying on straight.  It gets better circulation if it's not all curled up under your head, so if you can try to keep it somewhat extended, it may help with the numbness.  Worth a try!

    Good luck Smile

Literal LOL at mental image of a pregnant woman on a segway.  Smile

  • Thanks ladies!  I'm happy to hear I'm not alone in this.  I feel like the next 6 weeks are going to be gruelling.  My due date seems so far away still!
