Medela Harmony, it's a single manual pump (and all Medela products are BPA free). i never thought i would want a manual but it's suuper easy to use, no tubes to clean, and is so convenient to transport. pumping really doesn't take me that long, but i only use it occasionally since i SAH.
check with your insurance company too because the LC in the hospital gave me the pump after delivery, and so it was billed to my hospital stay, and it was covered! free to me, can't get better than that!!
I have the Lansinoh Double Electric. I like it b/c it is a closed system, so the milk cannot back up into the tubing like it can with the Medela pumps. It's actually the exact same pump as the Ameda Purely Yours, but it's about half the price. I like that you can either plug it in or use batteries also. The only con I can think of is that it doesn't come with a bag, but for half the price of other pumps, that really doesn't bother me. I just use a tote bag when I need to bring it with me. I haven't had any problems with it, but I've heard from other ladies that Lansinoh has great customer service also. I highly recommend it.
It really depends on what you need your pump for. If you are going back to work, you might want to invest in a double electric pump or a hospital grade pump. If you are staying home, you can get by with a manual or single electric pump.
I like the Medela Swing. I also have the Harmony, but manual pumping really sucks. If you can afford the extra cost, I would recommend an electric pump of some sort.

I have the Lansinoh Double Electric and really like it. It's small and easy to use, no problems with it. It doesn't come with a bag but I just use one of the diaper bags I got to carry it around. Plus, it's a lot cheaper than some of the other pumps.

Pros: Fast, good suction, great if you're going back to work. I'm using it about 5-10minutes a couple times a day to start freezing my milk so I have a supply stored up for when I go back to work. They have various sized shields for sale...the right size is important to get the most milk out. You can store your milk in the top of the bag with ice packs.
Cons: Tubing--kind of gross how the milk backs up into it. Other than that--none. Works great!!! An "A" from me!
I have the Harmony as well. Not the fancy electric, but I rarely use it. I like that it's easy to clean. If you're going to return to work, you'll probably want a double electric for sure.
I have a Medela Pump in Style and have no complaints. One thing to keep in mind (with any pump) - be sure you have the correct size flanges. I was using the ones that came with it, and they were too small. I ended up with some sore breasts!
I have the PISA (In Style Advanced from Medela) and it works wonderfully. My LC told me Medela products are the "golden standard" and since bfing was so important to me I wanted to spend the extra money. Bfing and pumping once you return to work are both challenging as it is, I wanted the best product I could buy. Best Buy Baby was by far the cheapest online... $200 vs $279 elsewhere. Since I work at a hospital I also have access to a hospital grade pump which is nice but isn't a whole lot better than the PISA. Others will tell you not to buy a pump until you have established bfing but I needed mine in the hospital because DD wasn't getting enough to eat. So my advice would be to buy it now and just keep the package wrapped.
I have the Avent Twin Electric pump. It is fast and powerful, but compact (doesn't take up much space). The milk does not pass through any tubing, so all you have to clean are the horns and bottle parts. It hooks up to the Avent bottles (which I don't like that much b/c they leak). But that is my only complaint.

I agree w/ all of this.
i agree with all of this AND, the lansinoh/ameda has adjustable settings. So you can mimic baby's rhythm of nursing, ie..set speed high and suction on medium then when let down happens, turn down speed and increase suction, etc. i don't believe you can do that with the medela.

I have the Medela PISA and I love it. I am an EPer, so it gets used alot. I haven't had any trouble with milk backing up into the tubing and hopefully I won't.

I have never had this happen...I wonder why it's backing up in the tubes?

have it and love it. I BF at home and pump at work (sometimes also at home). It's worked out great so far.
