Umbilical Cord Stump

My LO's stump fell off at 8 days but it doesn't look like it all came out.  It looks like there's still a small amount inside.  I've been making sure it's not leaking any pus or blood and there's no odor.

Did this happen to anyone else?

    yeah, it was still 'goopey' for a few days until the rest dried out.

    My babys stump came off to early some how it got caught on clothing or somthing and some came off it was kinda dried bloody looking for a few days I just kept a close eye on it and eventually it went away. I think as long as it dosn't look abnormal then you are okay.

    It came off after 2 days? Wow. I have no idea we were still in the hospital then and DD kept hers for 21 days...

    Ours fell off on day 5. It was slighly herniated for a week or so after and there was still some gunk (and blood) that would lightly dot the inside of his clothing. We just made sure to keep it dry and dot some alcohol around it once a day - especially after a bath.

    DS's was goopy for ages as well and we continued to clean it with alcohol. Our pedi said that was fine. It dried up and looked like a normal belly button eventually.
