Well, looks like I will be losing my job

I knew it was coming, so it's not completely unexpected. Our smaller company is now fully owned by a LARGE bank, and several people in our department (HR) have already been laid off. I met with the head of the bank's HR dept. She said I will know more within the next month (like exact dates, etc) and encouraged me to start looking. I will get 60 days notice, so I will likely have my job through mid to late August. If I time it right, and find a job within my notice period, she said they will work with me so I still get my severance. This is the tricky part. I need another job and need to start looking, but want to start late enough so I can get my severance. I want that damn_ severance, I've earned it!!!
So if anyone knows of any HR openings, let me know

Although my expertise is pretty specialized... Sigh. I'll find something...

Countrywide, right? I've got a friend who works for them, well, now BoA, and she said it's been rough over there lately.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way that you will find something else soon and that you get that severance package too!

My MIL works for Chase now that they've taken over Wamu and I keep worrying that she, too will lose her job before too long. The economy is so yuck-o.

Yeah, I meant Countrywide.

My little brother worked for World Savings when they were bought out by Wachovia. Things got ugly, but it ended up working out great for him.

I am sorry to hear that. I got laid off when Drew as a week old and my husband was just given 60 days notice two weeks ago. It sucks. My place was hiring a payroll person; but not sure if the still are. If you are interested I could find out for sure.

aww that sucks. i'm sorry amie! i hope you can find something soon. i would start looking now even though they gave you a lot of notice... if you start looking too late you may not find something in time. good luck!

Sorry to hear that. I work for a large company and we are downsizing HR too. Check out workforce.com - they have a job bank. Also, I like HRladder.com - it's 6 figure HR jobs.
