So, it's 90 degrees here. I was driving down the road and saw two girls in their front yard, maybe 10-12 yo in STRING bikinis. I have boys, and actually have never worn a bikini myself, but I don't think I'd allow this until they were out of my control. Am I out of line in my thinking? I actually work with the father of these girls, so I know they are under the age of 12. Thoughts?
Re: At what age is it appropriate to wear a string bikini?
I am pro itty bitty bikini until they are 5. After that NOOOOOOOOOO. Not until they are out of my house.
that goes for Miles too if he desires a string bikini.
They're probably the only people with good enough bodies:)
I am 31 and have 2 sting bikinis-- they are flattering, I maintain, because you can adjust them so as to avoid the dread muffin top or thigh lop-over.?
Good point! Maybe I'm just jealous that I'll never be able to wear to pieces of cloth tied together out in public! They were dancing around with branches in their front yard taunting the on coming traffic. It's a pretty busy street.
I agree with this. I LOVE some baby fat dimpling out of a bikini. but I do not like the trashiness of an adolescent girl ( or boy) in too little clothing.
Hmmm... if they're young enough to be taunting traffic with tree branches, they're young enough that they don't see themselves as particularly sexual creatures yet. It would probably disturb me more if they were posing/acting in a more adult way.
Still, as the mom of an 8 year old, I'm much more comfortable with "sporty" than "slinky" in my DD's bathing suits. Unfortunately, "sporty" is hard to find without paying out the nose. For example, in Target, girls' bathing suits seem to fall into 2 categories: frumpy or sexy. Come on, Target! Isn't there a middle ground?
SD is 14 and isn't allowed to wear one. If it were up to me, she wouldn't be able to wear one until she is paying her own bills. I'm not sure what her mom's plans are for that though.
SD does wear 2 piece suits. Last year, it was boy shorts and the top was thick straps that were hooked to the top not tied.
