Zofran?

I just saw someone mention on another post that Zofran was used for nausea... I have seen on other posts that it works only for vomiting. what's the deal? I have a full prescription in my purse for this stuff but if it's not going to cure my nausea then why the heck would I take it? I need something to allow me to eat dinner at night, since I feel the worst of it all between 5:00-bedtime.

Re: Zofran?

  • what did you tell your doctor you needed it for?

if it was for nausea- then Im sure it's fine.

    I'd use it anyway.

  • the lady knew I wasn't throwing up... but I have heard people say it doesn't help nausea once it strikes. I hear this crap is expensive though, maybe that's why they only gave me like 15 pills lol.

  • Zofran will definitely work for you. It's an anti-nausea medication.
  • They gave me a "promethazine-gel" for my nausea that doesnt do crap! I got 10 tubes of a lotion type thing to rub on my wrists, It doesn't work and it was $30 bucks. ridiculous!

WTF? That doesn't even sound logical. Hopefully they gave you something different?

Nope- I didn't want to spend any more on a "possibility that it might work"

So I'm just...dealing with it. (ugh) Huh?

  • I'm on zofran because I puke everything I eat. It helps curb my nausea but I still puking almost everday....

  • I'm on Zofran for my nausea/vomiting.  My doctor told me to take it about 1/2 an hour before my nausea usually kicks in (for me, that's about 11 AM when I start feeling queasy).  It settles my stomach enough that I can eat and feel good for the rest of the day - it totally curbs my nausea, which in turn stops my puking.  Hope this helps - it has made a WORLD of difference for me.
  • Um, both obviously. If you're not nauseated you're not going to vomit. I take it around the clock. It tones down the nausea a HUGE amount. When I don't take it or don't take it in time I am vomiting like crazy.

    TAKE IT! Trust me!

  • Yeah it's kind of weird b/c I asked my dr to call in an Rx for it & she specifically asked me if I was vomiting b/c apparently zofran is for if you're vomiting. But I take it for just nausea too & it's worked great for me.?
