I'm talking about the "love" bites that the little ones do (mine happens to do it to my shoulder when I'm hugging him). He's really clamping down hard now and leaving marks. He's even bit my face--again, in an act of love I think. I don't think he realizes what he's doing.
I've tried saying "stop" and "no biting" and just "no"--stearnly--but he LAUGHS. I just don't want it to get out of hand.
Would love to learn what you all are doing.

DD always bites the flabby part of my arm, right on the inside. I think she is trying to get me to do my 30 day shred DVD! HAHA!
But really I don't think they "get it" yet and I don't think that "punishing" them would reall do much. I do, however, fake cry and make a big production out of it "Holland hurt Mommy. WAHWAHWAH" and this seems to do something. She usually doesnt bite me again (she will usually give me 3-4 bites at a time) and this morning when I fake cried she gave me a hug! Maybe that will help?
I tap DD's cheeks with my finger and tell her "Emery, that hurts Mommy!!" or "No-no" or something else along those lines... it really doesn't work all that well. She stops biting at that point, but I haven't noticed it reducing the amount of times she bites. She is teething right now also... so I'm trying to be patient and hope she stops!
I have also pretended to cry, but she thinks I'm playing a game and just laughs and lunges at me again! lol
