...do you find time to exercise?
I'm trying to figure out how to fit workout time into my day and I think the only time that works is in the mornings before work. Right now I get up at 5:30 and get dressed and eat breakfast and do some light housecleaning before E gets up between 6:30 and 7:00. I've tried getting up at 5 to do yoga or run and it just doesn't happen. I think 5:30 is my limit. So I'm thinking about working out at 5:30 and then getting ready for work, etc. after E gets up. I'm solo in the mornings since DH leaves the house before E wakes up.
So, what time do you get up and what time does DC get up? What do you do to keep them busy while you shower, dress, do make-up/hair, etc?
An alternative question is, how do you fit exercise into your daily schedule?
Thanks!
Re: Working moms of toddlers...help with morning routine or when...
Sabrina's not a toddler (but omg, she started crawling yesterday! woo!) but I can't work out in the morning. I just can't. So I do it in the late afternoon/early evening, I put her in the exersaucer (which she loves unless I'm focused on something else) and she'll tolerate it for the 20+ minutes that shred takes. I can't run unless DH is watching her so that has to wait until he gets home or weekends. She is not a fan of the treadmill.
There are many mornings that Sabrina wakes up before I'm done getting ready and I bring her in the bedroom while i"m getting ready. She'll play with toys and scoot around. As long as I'm showered before she gets up, it's all doable. I just have someone staring at me while I get ready

I get up at 5:45 and Evan gets up around 6:20-6:30. I wake up earlier than Evan so that I can get ready. Sometimes he'll wake up while I'm getting ready, but he tells me that he's still sleepy and stays in bed.
I run twice a week with my coworker during lunch. Could you run or walk during lunch? If I miss a run during lunch, I run with Evan and DH when I get home from work. Maybe you can go for short runs during the week and go for longer runs on Saturday or Sunday?
Hey B!
Hope all is well. I have a slightly different work schedule than you. I start work at 6:30 am, however, when I used to work a more traditional work hour day, I always had a hard time exercising in the morning.
I run about 3-4 a week and what has helped was investing in a bob. I love it and I can exercise while taking care of the baby. An added bonus, LO and I always hit the park on the way back so at least he gets something out of the jog as well.
I have a flex schedule at work so fortunately we don't get up early. I get up around 7:30, Emmy same time or at 8am. I shower at night so morning schedule is:
Eat Breakfast (both of us)-also easy because she feeds herself
I put on tv shows while I get dressed (I don't do make up and just brush my hair.), pack my stuff up and load up the car.
Get Emmy dressed and then we're out the door.
Working out:
I workout at lunch 1-2x a week. I teach cycling class 2x a week after work (those nights are DH and Emmy nights, I don't get home till around 7:30). And I try to fit in 1-2 workouts during weekends, either during nap or morning. Right now on average I get 4-5x/week of workouts.
J! Great to see you!
We got an InStep (I think that's the name) which is a cheapie version of a Bob with the intention of me jogging with Estelle. The issue I'm facing during the week is that we get home from the share at about 5:30 and then it's time for dinner at 6 with bath at 7 and bedtime at 7:30. I'd love to fit in running with E in the evenings, but I just don't know how.
Before Estelle, I'd work out at lunch. The gym is only 2 blocks from my building. It was awesome. But now, since I have to do drop-off and pick-up, I get to work around 8:15 and I have to leave by 4:15. I could try sneaking to the gym, but honestly, I don't know how that would go over with my manager or with my colleagues.
I love everyone's info...it's helping me think.
Hmm, that's a tight after work schedule. Could you go running after E is in bed? While DH is home?
jkl & I were discussing offline and what I came up with is this...I think what I'll do is run a couple times a week after DH gets home. He can feed E and bathe her. Then when I get back from my run I can make dinner and we can eat after she goes to bed. Then on non-running days, I'll get up and do my core workout dvd before Estelle wakes up.
Now, the hard part...actually doing this!
See you this weekend M! Looking forward to it!
