XP from 2Tri - thigh numbness that is not sciatica?

Hi ladies, jumping over from 2nd tri to see if any of you have experience with this. I'm 20 weeks today and the past few days my right front and outer thigh has been tingly and numb whenever I stand up. Professor google informed me that the baby is pushing on an inguinal nerve which causes numbness in the outer thigh. Anyone have experience with this and did it get worse the further along you are? Anything help to relieve it? Tx!

p.s. I'll see my dr. on monday so will be asking her then too =)

Re: XP from 2Tri - thigh numbness that is not sciatica?

  • my left thing gets very numb when I stand too long as well as soon as I sit or lie down it eases though. I've been experiencing it for the past 4 or so weeks

  • I had this VERY early on (like 3-5 mths along) - same exact thing...my upper right thigh would go numb.  I chalked it up to pressure on the sciatic nerve.  It actually stopped around 5 mths and hasn't been back since for me.
  • yes left upper thigh goes numb when standing- Pregnancy Belt that holds up bump has helped me, it takes the pressure off.
  • My upper and outer left thigh has been numb for about 5 years now... the docs believe from a previous lower back injury.  I have had MRIs and xrays and nothing shows why my thigh is still numb.  Occasionally it gets tingly, and when I stand too long it burns and itches (but you can't relieve it).  One thing that I have found that helps the burning/tingly sensation is to lay down on your opposite side (so for me, my left thigh is numb, so I lay on my right side).  Laying on the opposite side helps relieve the pressure on the nerves running to the numb side.  GL!!!
  • I;ve had this, except instead of numbness, it's been a shooting pain in the thigh, as if something sharp has gone through me. ?I always look down to see if there is blood there when this happens, since it really feels like I've been stabbed. ?I was told by a couple of doctors the same thing other people have posted here, that the baby has hit a nerve.?
