That's the story (not sure, this is my first). That's part of the reason why women hoping to 'go natural' are trying to avoid inductions - they hurt more and are more likely to need the epi.
I have heard that the pletocin (sp?) they put you on to start up contractions is AWFUL!! And since it isn't your body naturally going into labor, its being more jump started i would say it is probably less comfortable. But honestly in the end we just want a baby...so whatever we have to do to get there!

I can only speak from experience...but getting to 5cm for me both times barely hurt at all (natural labor)...more like just strong period cramps.
Both kids I got stuck for over 4 hours at 5 cm...so once they started pitocin it HURT. Not sure if it's just because I'd go so fast (both kids went from 5-10 within a couple hours) or if it was the pitocin, but it HURTS.
Great! I'm measuring really big, and I wouldn't be surprised if my OB induced me early. Another wonderful thing to look forward to! At least the light at the end of the tunnel will be closer by that time. Bring on the drugs!

I was induced for my first pregnancy (several ways--doc pulled my MP, then broke my water, then gave me pitocin) and the pitocin, for me, REALLY worsened my contractions. They were very hard and painful.
I can't compare them to what "natural" contractions would feel like though, since I never experienced those.
I was given Pitocin for both of my previous labors, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. But for what it's worth.....I went from just being mildly uncomfortable to transition in less than an hour. I delivered DS in 4 hours and DD in 2 and a half hours. Intense.
When my doctor was talking induction with me on Monday she said "A lot of doctors will try to tell you that Pitocin doesn't make contractions that much worse but it's a lie. They are a lot worse and closer together".

The Pitocin sucks balls, yeah. For some people the contractions are worse with them.
