s/o - dropping to one nap

So I have been thinking this week that maybe Kennedy is trying to drop her morning nap, but carlinlp's post below has me second-guessing that.  Maybe she's too young?  Anyway, for the last several days, Kennedy is really fighting going down for her morning nap and then once she is down, she only sleeps for maybe 30-45 minutes, but then she sleeps for about two and a half to three hours in the afternoon.  (She used to sleep for an hour and a half in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.)  WDYT?  Does she just want to take a shorter morning nap, but still take one, or is she moving to just one long nap?

Re: s/o - dropping to one nap

  • I've been swamped at work so I didn't get to reply to carlinlp's post  But DD dropped to one nap right at 11 months old!!!  I couldn't believe it.  I figured it would be a short phase and she'd go back to 2 naps but nope...she never went back.  So Kennedy could be on her way to dropping to one nap as well!  The only strange thing DD did was instead of dropping her morning nap, she dropped her afternoon nap.  She would nap from about 10-noon (after waking up at 8 am).  Then she would be up for a LONG stretch...from noon to 7 pm when she went to bed!  It was so strange but gradually, she started moving that nap back and she naps at a "normal" time now (from 1 pm to 3 pm).  She goes to bed at 8:00 pm and sleeps until 7:30 am.

  • My DD only sleeps for about 30 minutes in the morning now and then longer in the afternoon and she's a year old.  I think she's in a much better mood when she gets this nap even if its just for a short time.  Try keeping it for a few days and just see what kind of cues you get from her.
