nbr: silly, but true

I have started trying to be a bit active on the craft board once I noticed their was one on the main nest a month or so ago.

Last night, I posted an AW on my girls' dresses in my siggy -- a crafty accomplishment.  I have had over 360 (!) views over there, but only 2 comments!  Just disappoints.  Silly of me to be sad, but I thought the craft board would give some more love.  that *is* why we AW after all.

The 2 compliments were great, and I know I *love* the pictures and the dresses  and I keep telling myself that, but darn feelings!  I wouldn't feel nearly as bad if only 20 people viewed the message in the 1st place, but 360?!?  I see it happened similarly to someone else on the craft board a day before mine - darn national boards without the sense of community.

and really not begging for compliments here - I know that's what it sounds like. Just know we all get bummed from time to time with low-response posts, so you can just commiserate with that feeling if you respond! Wink

  • I meant to say I thought they were cute a few days ago when I saw the new siggy. *hugs* and good job!

  • Honestly, that's what's kept me from posting over there.  I'm afraid no one will reply and it will hurt my feelings.  :(  I'm sorry that people didn't respond - the dresses are adorable, as are the girls wearing them.

    1. not silly. that would hurt my feelings.

    2. i have to admit, i was too busy looking at the cuteness that is your girls to look at the dresses.

    3. i'm impressed! did you use a pattern or just work it out somehow (please say pattern or i will be crazy jealous).

I think they look amazing! I love the coordinating patterns and they look so professional - I'm jealous of your skills!
  • thanks ladies.  Yes

MC: Elena's dress is a McCall's pattern whereas Julia's I drafted from an old Old Navy dress.  A couple more details are on my blog. Nothing to be insanely jealous about!

  • They are beautiful Nanann - both the dresses and the girls.  :)  I love how you coordinated the fabrics.  This motivates me to make some dresses for Claire.  I have fabric and patterns - I think I just need the confidence and time now!  Smile

I must confess I looked at your post on the Craft board but didn't respond.... I even looked at your blog.... but I was headed to bead and didn't want to formulate a response.

  • I can totally relate. I think that that is what keeps most lurkers lurking and some of us who don't aw a whole lot from awing. Fear of rejection. So, great for you for putting yourself out there.

I think the dresses and your beautiful girls are adorable!

  • i think we have all been there, totally understandable.  the dresses and girls of course are too cute.

    where is this turtle pond?

  • I think you're super talented
  • Yep, that same sort of thing keeps me from AWing, even though I REALLY want to show some stuff.  I fear that 'rejection.'  Even though I don't post much, I lurk A LOT, say lots of prayers for people, laugh lots of laughs and feel like these boards are my friends.  So to be rejected by your "friends" hurts.

I read your blog and you're inspiring me too!  I'm going to attempt to make a cape for my niece this week...  Her birthday (3rd) party is Sunday.

Great dresses and cute girls, btw.

  • I saw them in a post above and thought they were adorable!  I Love them.  I might call on you to make (or teach me how to make) dresses for my lil girl.
  • The dresses are great!!  And after seeing some of your beautiful quilts, I still can't believe you would be at all intimidated with clothing 9or anything else for that matter) - you are obviously a very talented seamstress.  I guess we all get comfortable with what we know, right?  And it's not silly, by the way - that would hurt my feelings too. :)

  • I have often complained about that.  I get lots of views but very few comments, which always makes me think people don't like me.  Sigh.

Anyway, very cute dresses.  I wish I could do more than sew a straight line.  :)

  • I didn't even know there was a craft board....?

Of course your dresses are cute. ?And I tell you, the no pattern thing is the way to go! :)?
