For those who've had c-sections- Quick ?

I was going to ask SBLAY specifically after reading her birth story but the more comments the better. Did you have any nausea during the surgery? If so, did you actually throw up?

My MIL had 3 c-sections and said that when they got to one particular layer (how many layers do they cut through?) she always got sick and threw up.

I've always wondered how common this is.

    The only nausea I had was post-surgery.  It wasn't anything overwhelming, though....loads of apple juice helped for me.

    I had an emergency C Section and did not get sick. Not really sure what would make someone sick, but I guess it could happen. Only thing I remember is feeling tugging, not pain at all just like I was being jerked around. I am having a planned C Section this time and wonder how different it will be.

    I don't have an answer to the nausea question, but with my surgery experience (I'm an x-ray tech and we go into surgery a lot) They have to cut through the skin, then there's a thin covering over your abdominal organs, then they cut through your uterus, so that's 3 layers.

    No nausea for me, but I was given something beforehand for that.  Don't remember what it was though because it has been about 9 years..lol.

    they generally give anti-nausea meds before c/s these days. i would not worry about it.

    No nausea for me.  I think (I could be wrong) that maybe the nausea could be a result from the spinal. Some people don't take to the anesthesia well.

    I got a little bit of nausea with Gabe but didn't throw up. With Ruben I threw up after, that was emergency though, so I don't know if it makes a difference.

    I was nauseas (sp?) and did throw up....but I didn't throw up until after my  daughter and husband had already gone to the nursery and I was being closed up....I think it was b/c of the spinal, but I don't know for sure. I'm going to ask about it ahead of time this go around...
