Those who sit in an office all day...

How do you deal with the butt pain all day??  Uggh my butt feels like it's going to fall off.  I'm trying to be good about getting up & walking around every hour or so.  I might have to request a butt pillow Yes

  • Thats so funny. I just got up to put something in our outgoing mailbox at the office and while walking back to my cubicle was thinking how much my tailbone was killing me. I havent found a solution yet. But I did notice it hurts more when I sit on the edge of my chair, which I usually do out of habit.
  • My butt/hips pretty much hurt everyday now...I try to get up and walk too, but I also need to keep my feet propped up since they're super swollen today....it's a no-win situation! Huh?

butt doesn't hurt, but this week my lower back started aching.  I need a change and fast!

  • I try to change positions often for multiple pg body issues. it blows though

  • Sorry...I have nothing to offer.  I try to get up...scratch that...I HAVE to get up every 1/2hr to pee and sometimes will take a walk around the office but other than that I'm right there with ya!  For me it's not so much my butt but my feet/legs that are bothering me most.  Oh well, hopefully just a few more weeks! Wink

  • I was having serious tailbone issues, I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and they actuallly have a pillow for this!  It was only $15 and I stopped using it b/c it got really hot (my office's ac sucks) but at first it was very helpful
  • I have a small foot stool that helps take pressure off my back/butt region.  It doesn't solve it all though.
  • I stretch a little when I go to the ladies room. Thank god for the bars in the handicapped stall...

  • I don't have butt pain but I do have lower back pain-which sucks.  I try to get up on and walk around.  Others have suggested sitting on an exercise ball instead of in my chair but I don't know if this will help.

  • My butt hips and back hurt all day long.  I don't know what to do about it either.  Seems like the more I get up and down the more my hip hurts.  The more I sit the more my butt hurts and no matter what my back hurts grrrr....

I might have to look into this pillow!  I think my co worker is getting tired of hearing me grunt & moan everytime I sit down or change positions haha

  • I stand up and stretch at my desk like every 30 mins! My problem isn't so much my butt... its my tummy pushing up under my boobs causing it to tingle under them and get tender. NOT FUN
  • IT BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Thanks for posting this! my butt is gonna fall off too! Where can I get a butt pillow?!?!!! Stick out tongue

I try to walk around as much as possible - keep my legs elevated (placed a box under my desk) and still my bottom is in pain!

  • I am a lucky b!tch when it comes to office furniture. Because my job can get very stressful and I can get stuck at my workstation for long periods of time they have super comfy leather office chairs that recline back and have high head rests. And the desks are all on hydraulic posts so if I need to get up and move around I can lift my desk to standing height and work standing up!

(The downfall is getting stuck without someone to relieve me for potty breaks!)

  • I tried the butt pillow but it makes it much harder to get my feet up and since they are so swollen I am trying to keep those elevated also.  I find a slight pelvic tilt under and I lean back in my chair feels the best.  That's just my opinion.
  • I agree completly. I never realized how uncomfortable my desk chair and every other chair here at work is. Ugh, is it 5 yet?

I get up and walk around a lot.  I try to fidget quite a bit.  Otherwise, that's it.  My rear and hips still hurt though.

It's in the section with all the massager chair pads and spa pedicure and 'as seen on tv' stuff, not by the actual pillows.  that kinda threw me off

  • OMG IT SUCKS!!! I actually just have a regular small sofa pillow but its funny because every time I get up I see the indention of my butt!!
  • Luckily I have a pretty comfy chair but I also put my feet up on a stool under my desk which helps a lot.  Sometimes I switch to an exercise ball if it gets bad.  I don't know if it actually helps or if I am just distracted because I like to bounce up and down on the ball!

  • Exercise ball works great. The only pain I get is occasionally in my legs but I prop them up on a box I have under my desk. I switch positions and use a pillow. Fun times.
  • I'm on my feet all day teaching (5th grade special ed), and dream of an office job. It's interesting to see people complaining about sitting down all day.

But, I can see how it could get uncomfortable.

  • I requested a better chair.

  • Yes the butt pain really is a killer!! Thank god my doc is ready to take me off work she just said for me to let her know when i am ready and she will pull the plug on me working... I am going to try to stick it out for the rest of this month! I am so sick of this pelvi pain! ahhhhhhhh
  • Urgh, Im totally getting butt pain too...tailbone mostly! Im also getting rib pain and lower back pain. Maybe I need to get a better chair at work here, but I go on leave soon (2 months) so I don't know.  Streaching does seem to help, and making sure to get up and walk around every so often like some of the other ladies have said.

I'm also trying to force myself not to cross my legs, can't be good for circulation right now.

  • You could go cheap and use a regular pillow with a black or darkblue pillow case (or whatever matches your office chair).  You could even take two for the days your back is also killing you...  Just an idea, I would do it if it got to that point of pain and frustration. Good Luck.
  • My mom has one of these and loves it. https://www.tushcush.com/

I tried it back before I was pg and its super comfy. Its a bit more expensive, but it lasts long and doesn't get flat. My mom has tried a bunch and she said this def is the best.
