Re: ~*~ Weekly PG Check-In ~*~
QOTW: OMG. This is a point of great, GREAT concern for me at the moment. My MIL has bought her ticket and will be staying with us for TWO MONTHS!!!!
Sorry for screaming, but I'm freaking out a little about this. I mean, I'm trying to be cool, and I'm glad she's well and will get to know her grandbabies. But 2 months... That is a hell of a long time to spend at home alone with someone with whom I have such great personality clashes. I'm sure I'll be thankful for her help, but she is very much an all-about-me kind of person, and I just don't know how that's going to sit with me being hormonal, exhausted and taking care of two babies. I will try to be good.
My mom will also come but probably for only a week or two. And she will go away if I ask nicely.
Update: Bedrest bites, but I'm being good. We had another u/s yesterday morning. The boys look fantastic! They're both right at 5.5 lbs and are in the 50th percentile for singleton babies so they're still growing like champs. If I can last another two weeks, I'll have almost 13 lbs of baby to deliver. Wow.
*ETA: This topic got me so riled up that I forgot to say congrats again to Ryansbride, best of luck to lyndamf & NoVaGirl, and yay for MrsRegis & KSandAE!
Good luck to Nova and lots of dust to lyndamf.
Congrats to ryansbride, MrsRegis and KSandAE2008!
QOTW: My mom will be coming over to help after the baby is born but since they live so close and she doesn't want to leave my dad alone, she won't be staying with us. I am really looking forward to the help though. Negative on MIL- that would just be one more person for me to take care of.
I am uncomfortable. I gained 7 pounds between appointments but after looking at my (lack of) ankles, my Dr. said the majority of that is water. My back hurts and I think I was up at least 8 times last night (between going to the bathroom and just waking up because I couldn't find a comfortable position). I'm going to check with work to see if it is possible to move my leave up a week so that my last day will be at 39 weeks rather than my due date.
With Grant My parents came for a week and my inlaws came for a week. I think a week was enough time but we had them back to back and I would not do that again. I felt like I never held him unless I was nursing.
This time around I was still planning on having each for a week but having a week or two between visits. However, my inlaws house finally sold so they will be living with us until they find a house to buy
They move here at the end of the month so unless they find a house really fast they will still be in ours when the baby is born. I love my inlaws but I'm freaking out a little!
Other than that things are going pretty well. I've been having a lot of BHs lately which I didn't really have the first time around, along with the back pain and other aches and pains. I'll probably go check out maternity support belts when my mom is in town next week. I can't believe that I'm already in the 3rd trimester. It has gone so fast this time.
QOTW: MIL and FIL are coming down for the birth, but they will be staying in a hotel. They'll stay a few days, and then DH and I will have a few days by ourselves with baby C before my mom comes. My mom is going to come down about a week or so after the birth (basically, whenever I ask her to!) and stay for a couple of weeks (or as long as I want her to).
Update: Well, we have 5 weeks left, and I can't believe how much we have left to do! My goal is to get it done by the end of May, and I think that's realistic. DH is just taking forever to clean out the nursery closets (they currently house a bunch of his electronics and camping stuff). I know he has limited time and he's working hard on it, so I shouldn't complain. Other than that, I am just ready to be done with all the preparations and have baby C here!
All our parents work full time, but I know for sure my mom, dad, and MIL will take one week off to come stay with us at separate times. So I have three weeks of help for sure. My cousin (has two kids) lives in Hutto so I am sure she will come when I call. ?I think everything will be fine b/c I am lucky to have a great realationship with all of them. In fact, the 1st person to get annoyed is probably going to be one of them b/c maybe I am the hardest to put up with (HAHAHA). Hopefully, after all is done everyone will still get along.
Update: I had my 2nd internal this past Monday and still no progress
QOTW: I don't know that my mom will stay with us, she lives about 5 miles away but I may be surprised. I'm kind of hoping she will because I'm a little scared.
Feeling ok, I had my first real experience with the nausea in the middle of the night. Now everytime I stand up I think I'm going to be sick. I think it could be much worse. DH took good care of me this morning, he didn't judge when I was laying on the bathroom floor either.
I'd like to join my due date is 1/16/10, I have no guess as to what I'll be having. I haven't been around the Austin baby board much lately, but I probably will be in the future
QQTW: well MIL lives in town so I don't have to worry about her staying here, I'd like it if my mom comes to stay for a while(parents live in Dallas), but she's trying to get a teaching job for next year, so I don't know if she'll be able to
QOTW: My parents are flying in on 10/30 (EDD 10/25) and staying 10 days. ILs live in town so they'll likely watch Megan while we're in the hospital and stop by with food pretty often before my parents get here. With Megan my parents arrived 10 days after she was born. She was 1 day late and since my parents had to book their flights ahead of time they booked it for 11 days past my due date in case I went past it. For Megan we wanted to make sure we had a couple days alone as our new family before my parents arrived and that worked out perfectly. For #2 DH and I agree we don't need any alone days, we'll take help as soon as we can! :-) It's just so nice having my parents here, they cook, clean, help with Megan (and I'm sure with the new baby), it's great!
Updates: I think I'm feeling movement! You would think since this is #2 I would have a better idea! :-) But at night when I finally sit down on the couch after Megan is asleep I usually feel some light movements!
QOTW: MY mom will come and stay for as long as I want. I told her I want her to move in.
I love my mom and she helps but doesn't step on any toes. The only thing that might get in the way of her staying for a while is my 17yo brother. Since my dad passed away this year there is no one to keep an eye on him at home and he tends to get in trouble when left at home. As for my MIL, I would like to get armed guards to kick her out any time she decides she wants to stop by. The woman lives in SA but travels to Austin for work and calls me sometimes and tells me she is going to "stop by" in 15 minutes to see us. And she likes to question EVERYTHING we do. So no, I hope she doesn't come to stay.
Update: I have an induction scheduled for June 22nd if I don't go into labor before then! I'm so excited to have an end date! DS was a big baby for my body so he did a lot of damage on his way out, we are hoping DD won't be as big but the induction is to make sure she doesn't get as big as him.
QOTW: We plan on my mom coming to stay with us a bit when the baby is born...not sure for how long though. My mom has a fair amount of vacation time, plus she works for UT, so her office will be closed over the holidays anyway. So, the question will probably be how long I can stand having my mom here. I love my mom, but it's a challenge having another adult body in the house.
My MIL lives in town, and I know she'll be available to help out as needed whenever.
My dad & stepmom live across the street from us, so they'll be some help. My stepmom is not really a kid person, but I imagine they'll be great about providing food & entertaining our dog. I'm super excited for our kid to have his/her grandparents across the street.
Update: Feeling good & less tired, which is nice. I'm not nauseated generally, but I'm still not really interesting in cooking yet. Thankfully DH has been a champ at planning & cooking meals. He's usually a grill guy, but this weekend he made some fabulous homemade manicotti. yay DH.
Quick Labor Dust to NoVA and Delayed Labor Dust to lynda!
Congrats to ryansbride, MrsRegis and KSandAE!
QOTW: My mom lives 2 miles from us, so I doubt she will stay overnight but I know she will be here to help as much as I need her to be.
MIL lives about 15 minutes away and I imagine will be making several trips a week to see the baby and help out. I'm glad we have family so close by, but I am just a little bit jealous that my older sister (who lives in Houston) will have 3-4 weeks of round-the-clock help from my mom when her baby is born.
Update: I have been suuuper tired lately, and I think its more because the stress of DH's job loss is keeping me up at night than anything else.
We got Camryn's furniture over the weekend and I love love it! Other than that, not much to report. ?
The O'Baby Blog
Congrats to everyone....noVA-grl, only 2 more days until you have my permission to have that baby!!
QOTW: My MIL/FIL live in Manor so they will come by and visit, but there won't be any "staying with us" (temporary or otherwise). My mom has already told her office that she'll be taking 3 weeks of vacation when I have the baby. I'm SUPER excited that my mom is going to hang around....part of me is going to want her to stay longer!! She has already said she's going to do most of the cooking/cleaning and I'm just excited for her to be around to help.
Updates: Holycrap...I'm in the top 10!
Still feeling great...ready for May to be over so that I can "officially" slow down and begin to take it easy.
QOTW: My mom lives about 10 minutes from us. I am sure she will be at my house a ton, however, she will not be staying the night. MIL does not live here and is not planning on coming down until the baby is about a month old. I think they may stay a week or so, so that won't be too long.
I FINALLY got my acid reflux under control with a ton of medicine, so that is great! But, my back has started to kill me by the end of the day each day. I think it has something to do with the fact that I sit at my desk for 8+ hours each day. Even though I am getting up often and walking around, my back is done by 3 or so. Ugg...just when I get one symptom under control another one shows up!
dust to all who need it:) and congrats to the BFP's and baby girls!!
QOTW: we are trying to figure that out right now...my parents live in Illinois so its quite a hike so with that being said my mom might come for a month. i am due the day before Thanksgiving so she might come for Thanksgiving and stay through Christmas when my dad will come to see the baby for the first time. not sure about the IL's but they are welcome whenever they would like to come:)
I was feeling pretty good the past week and then yesterday, i felt sick all day and was extremely tired.
My step-MIL might come in from Florida. I'm hoping she will. My MIL came for 3 weeks last time and she was a royal PITA and caused a ton of stress for both me and DH.
Feeling fine ... but ready for this pregnancy to start speeding up! I've already gained A LOT of weight and remember all too well what it feels like to gain even more - and then swell up. Oh boy!
Trying to stay positive!
Overall, I'm feeling good - I've been very lucky so far. I had my first doctor's appointment (well, really nurse's appointment) on Monday which made everything seem more "official."
My parents live in Dallas so I imagine they will come down and stay with us for a week or two after the baby is born. DH's family lives in Montana right now but they're moving back to the Austin area in July. I'm sure they'll be around a lot, which is a relief to me because I've been so worried about not having a local support system. I mean, we have some great friends here, but none have kids yet (although one of my good friends is due a month before me).
Thanks for all the labor dust, ladies! I could use all you can spare :-)
Congrats ryansbride05 on the birth of Jackson!!
QOTW: Funny you should ask....my parents and my MIL all flew in from the East coast on Thursday. MIL is staying for 3 weeks, and my mom is staying until the end of June. It is great having them here, BUT it's a little more stressful now that I am past my due date and still no baby! They had booked their flights awhile ago and we were thinking the baby would be here by now....Anyway, it is nice having the help around the house, but I am still working too. At least I don't have to worry about hosting since everyone is really good about just taking care of themselves.
Updates: No baby yet! I had my dr. appointment yesterday and I am not dilated at all. So....we wait. The biophysical exam was great - baby scored 8/8 and I'm doing fine, so there is really no medical reason to induce me. My doctor suggested we schedule the induction for Monday night - so that's where we are now. I am still hoping little boy will get here on his own though. Keep sending the labor dust!!!!
Thanks for all the well wishes and dust everyone! I'm passing on some to everyone else!
QOTW: Well, my mom lives in town so she will probably come over a lot to help, but not stay with us. As for my MIL, she lives in SA so she may stay for a few days but it just depends on when this baby is born. I really want my hubby and I to go home with the baby alone at least for a few days and get adjusted before anyone starts staying with us!
Update: In the hospital, and will find out results of my tests by this evening. If things are bad, we will induce quickly but if not, then we will do it sometime between now and 37 weeks. The bad news is, I'll be in the hospital then entire time! My doctor is not letting me leave so NAMC is my home for anywhere from a few days up to two weeks. Which means I have even more spare time on my hands than I did at home on bedrest. Yet no freedom. I do get 30 minutes a day in a wheelchair. Yay! I'll keep you guys posted on what happens with me but if you get bored and feel like taking a trip to NAMC, you know that you'll find me here!
Congrats ryansbride05, good luck to the very soon mommas to be, and congrats to all the new BFP's!!!
QOTW: This is funny- Colleenor and I were just talking about this this morning on our walk- did you already know this question?! Anyway, my mom will probably be out here for a few weeks after the baby is born but it won't be for a month or so since she teaches and would want to wait for the semester to end. As for my IL's they will be here (although we haven't discussed this with them) to watch our DS while we are in the hospital having DD. When DS was born the whole family decended on us and my parents cooked for 3 days (while we were in the hospital) to get us through the first few months which was great. That probably won't be happening this time though (boo hoo) and I'll have to make some freezer meals for us ahead of time.
Updates: Barely feeling movements now (finally) she kicks around in there but it is nothing like DS was- I felt him moving all the time from about 16 weeks. This whole anterior placenta thing bites! Anyway, feeling good. My hips hurt at night but it is to be expected, but overall pretty good.
Have a great week ladies!
Can I be added to the list...EDD of 12/6 and my guess right now is boy.
Lots of dust to everyone who needs it and congratulations to ryansbride and the new BFPs.
QOTW: My mom and my MIL both live about 30 miles from us, and both will want there time with us and the baby. Being so close to Christmas my mom will probably come first and then his mom a few weeks later. My SIL just had a baby in April and we are hoping his mother will spend the holidays with them (since a 9 month old will be far more entertaining then a 3 week old).
I am finally feeling much better. Last week my energy level started to return and with it my appetite. Still don't have a desire to cook, but food actually sounds good again. Had my second appt yesterday and heard the HB via doppler a strong 160 BPM. Next week is our NT scan, nervous but excited to see the little one.
QOTW: My mom is planning to come for about two weeks. I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me wants the help, the other part wants some time to figure things out on our own. But she mentioned doing the cooking, cleaning, errand running, etc, so I figure I should take all the help I can get. My in-laws will probably come up the weekend after the baby is born but none are planning an extended stay. I love my MIL but there is no way (of course I'm sure dh feels the same way about my mom, but too bad!).
Update: Achy hips and heartburn are my complaints right now. I go for my glucose test next week, here's hoping I can keep eating my carbs and sweets!
Congrats to everyone and good luck and labor dust to NoVA.
Update: Still in shock that the first round of Clomid did the trick. I am very anxious about something going wrong as I am a very anxious person in general. I have my second beta tomorrow and I am hoping that it will help calm my nerves some. EDD is 1/28.
QOTW: I'm sure my mom will come stay as long as need/want her to. We are very close and this will be her first grandbaby. My MIL is no longer living, but I have 3 SIL so I am hoping that they will be able to come and visit for a while.
QOTW: I really don't know what's going to happen with the relatives when Annabelle comes. Originally I had asked MIL and FIL to come for at least a month and stay with us, and we all discussed the idea of them being here for several weeks around due date and after delivery. I am veeerrry lucky that I adore my ILs and there is no one (aside from DH) that I would rather have around during that time than MIL. She's a godsend for most things and I can only imagine she'll be a rockstar when they're here to help. However, with SIL #1 due one week before me (and being in CA) I don't know if MIL/FIL will go there first, come here first, or split up so they can each be in either place. Who knows. My mom lives in town and will probably come stay with us for a few weeks, which will be great also. (But ssshhhh, don't tell her I'd rather have MIL....)
Updates - none really. Just plugging along. Super super busy and veeerry tired lately - I feel that 1st tri exhaustion again.
I've got a ton of stuff on my plate right now and leading up to the fall, so I'm starting to get a bit nervous about how I'll handle everything once the baby arrives. But I guess somehow it'll all work out!
QOTW - My mom is moving in with us, probably for a minimum of 6-8 weeks. There is no way that I can take care of three babies under 18 months by myself, at least until the little guys are sleeping a 5 or 6 hour stretch and taking less than an hour to eat each time. Rhett was such a lazy eater. If even one of them is anything like him all I will do is nurse and someone has to play with Rhett! Since Monte still doesn't have a "regular" job he works about 10 hours a day, 6 days a week and won't be able to take any time off. My MIL lives 10 minutes away. She has a goat dairy that keeps her extremely busy, but she already told me she will be available to come and help since none of the goats will be kidding (having babies) then.
I am still feeling good. My biggest complaint is still heartburn, but I hate taking medicine so I only take the Zantac when I absolutely can't stand not to. The boys are both measuring ahead, just over the 50th percentile for singletons, so hopefully they will keep that up! I have my one hour glucose test at my next appointment. I failed it with Rhett and I know I'm more likely to have GD with twins, so I am really crossing my fingers this time!
Our Blog
QOTW: I haven't really thought about it, but now I will add it to my list of things to stress about lol. both moms are in town, so i guess we will just play it by ear. i really just want someone to cook and deliver meals for us and maybe come by once a day to let me take a break, but maybe i haven't thought it through enough?
MY STATUS: i feel good--no complaints. i finally started gaining weight--yay! at my 20 week appointment i had gained 4 pounds, so i was a little anxious. i know most ladies would be happy, but after all of our losses, i was a little tense about. doc says all is ok and it looks like i have gained another 4 pounds! woohooo! i'm at 24 weeks. she is moving around all the time and we can now see her move on the outside---strange, but cool!
