Just curious how much time you need off from work for Dr. visits, etc and how do you handle that. Lately, I have had to take so much time off for appts, etc. and my boss is probably wondering what the hell is going on. I told him I have a medical issue that I need to get resolved but it is nothing to worry about. Just curious what you all have done. I don't know how much longer I can do this without him getting annoyed...
Re: Those on Fertility Meds or those being monitored, please come in
I try to make the first appt or the last for the day and either come in late or leave early. I was very sick on Met and missed a few days of work. My super is a woman and she knows what is going on with the PCOS and she told the freaking operations manager, who is a guy.
I was so pissed when he said to me "All this just to have a baby? It happens for everyone you just have to be patient."
I answered with "Sometimes it is NOT that easy for some people and certain things are necessary. In the future please stay out of my personal life."
He has not mentioned anything since and he has been peachy sweet!
my boss is cool. my peer group and believes in "family first".
I was very upfront and open about all that I would be going through and what it would entail as far as time off. Luckily, all my monitoring appts were at 7am and I was able to get to work by 8. I told him that the only real conflict I would have would be for the actual IUI's themselves since they were always at 9am - and would be pretty unpredictable as to when. But that I would have at least a day notice, so I would let him know as soon as I found out what day I'd be in late.
It was good to be open in my case. My first cycle was clomid and since the IUI was cancelled, we were forced to TI. I needed to do my trigger that time around at 10am. Told my boss that I needed a place to mix my meds and administer the shot. He found me the "quiet room" (lactation rooms) on the floor below me, so that I wouldn't have to do this in the bathroom with people walking in and out and seeing my big ass syringe.

People just don't get it. If I hear the saying, "when you least expect it, it will happen" again, I will kill someone. And if my damn sister says, "I got pregnant so many times from just looking at him" again... I will kill her. Or she jokingly offered her eggs to me yesterday! Like come on. At this point, it's not funny!
But I have been taking the 1st appts which are at 8. My boss needs me in by 8 so I have been only missing an hour here and there. I just get concerned b/c I know he has to answer to a few people about my where-abouts.
I talked to my two direct bosses when we were diagnosed with unexplained IF so that I wouldn't feel awkward leaving for appointments and such. They've been very gracious and I trust them to keep my personal business personal.
That said, I'm a very open person. And I work in a very laid back company.
I told my principal what was going on when i started seeing my re. I wanted her to know so she didn't think i was taking days off for fun. She is very supportive and completely understands when i need to leave early or come in late or take a day off. She even asks every once in a while how everythings going. I ended up telling some fellow teachers as well since they are the ones that have to fill in for me when i have dr apts. Im glad i told them bc they are all so supportive and are very reassuring when i get bummed.
