Do babies in bassinets or pack n' plays get the same benefit as babies in co-sleepers or in the family bed? I'm referring to the post below title "Am I crazy/unrealistic"
We don't plan on co-sleeping but have borrowed a co-sleeper just in case we change our mind. But we also have a bassinet that my father has made us that we are going to set up in our room and that's where we both assumed the baby will sleep for a while (a couple of months?). But I don't know if that is of any benefit to the baby or just more convenient to me - and by benefits I'm referring to the Dr Sears c+p in the original post.
Re: s/o co-sleeping and such
Yes, same/similar benefits. Proximity to mom and dad creates more natural responsiveness between baby and parent.
Here's a tidbit of info for reading if you're interested.

Here's some more. Dr. McKenna is considered one of, if not THE, experts on co-sleeping.

haha this is a great debate and i really dont think there will be one, right answer on this!
hope there is research on both sides so that you can see the benefits to both!
I never co-slept because 1) we didn't want to roll over on her and 2) we didn't want her still stuck in our bed.
DD did sleep in the basinet until 4 months and then moved to her crib. I did it as a convience to me and getting up to feed her at night.
Technically, this IS co-sleeping. Just FYI!
