NBR: Michael Vick Rant

I am just really irritated that now he is proposing to work with the humane society to educate people about how dog fighting isn't a good thing.  I really hope they see right through this as his attempt to get back to playing with the NFL.  I know there are professional athletes who have done worse, but having two rescue dogs of my own, this really rubs me the wrong way.

  • I completely agree!

  • wasn't he banned for life? if they were to let him back in there would be a huge uproar i'm sure. he is despicable.
  • I totally agree. He lives in Hampton, VA which is about 30 minutes from me and that is all we have been hearing about on the local news and reading in the paper. WHO CARES?? I'm tired of him continuing to get more and more press.....He's a pathetic human being and and cannot redeem himself in my eyes....

  • Apparently the head of the NFL (sorry, I only watch football with DH so I'm not entirely up on the terms or positions in the league)  is considering letting him play again if he shows "sincere remorse" for what he has done.  I would assume people would freak out but I think there are enough people that liked him as a player that would be ok with him coming back.

  • Maybe he's been "reborn"...right! Keep him away. I'm no animal rights activist, but fighting dogs makes me sick to my stomach. I don't understand how people can be so cruel!
  • Agreed. I've seen more than my share of dogs after they've been rescued from dog fighters.

Maybe, just maybe, I would trust him if he had lost an eye, broken a leg, been dragged behind a car, been dipped in roofing tar. . . these are some of the things that the dogs I've seen have been through.

Exactly!  I eat meat, I'm not throwing paint on people's fur coats or protesting anywhere but the idea of someone being cruel enough to hurt defenseless animals and breed them just for the intention of hurting/killing them makes me sick.

That's what I heard, if he shows that he is a "changed man" he may be reconsidered back in. Thank god my team the Bills already took a chance and took T.O. this year, however I am sure there is a team somewhere that would take him. Personally he makes me sick and I don't think he should even be getting attention, let alone anywhere near dogs.

It makes me so mad to think about Michael Vick. What burns me up is that SOME team SOMEWHERE will eventually take a chance on him and he'll be back to making millions. My husband is a huge Virginia Tech fan, and was a huge Falcons fan while Vick was there. We went to see a game in Atlanta, and it was amazing to see how loved he was there. Why would you throw something like that away for something so brutal, stupid, and cruel?

I think this is a great idea!

  • Do we really think that after 23 monthes in jail this shell of a man is reformed? NO!

pleasantsarg has it right he needs some of the mean things that have been done to these dogs to him...esp the bait dogs. So sad to me....I'm sorry I just think that people who are "celebrities" or "athletes" who are charged with crimes such as animal abuse & murder should be stripped of their careers and be made to make license plates or trash collectors. He should have to start all over!! Have NO rights to his old life or career.

  • That's what I keep saying!  My company won't hire someone that has a criminal record and even the wealthiest and most powerful people here aren't even close to making the millions he is/was/will be.  Being a professional athlete is his JOB and the fact that he can walk back into it after being arrested is a disgrace.  Give it to someone else who can be a good role model to kids.

  • I agree as well !!
  • My husband and I both grew up raising pit bulls and have two of our own now...Almost all of our friends own them too and just to think how much hell these poor animals were put through makes my blood boil...Im disgusted at the fact that he thinks he'll work with the humane society to educated other about dogfighting...I hope somebody puts that SOB in a ring of dogs to get beaten and abused like he did to those dogs...He a disgrace to football, mankind, and all pit bull owners...I pray he never works again. ?To think that he is going to be truely sorry and honest about working with the humans society is not only ignorant but nieve...He makes me sick.
