Cytotec at 11pm - contractions started 2 hours later. Water broken, pitocin started and Epi two hours after that. Labor stalled at 7cm, ended up with a c section at 2pm.
Baby's head was too big for my pelvis and had his umbilical cord around his neck twice. Induction or not I would have ended up with a c section.
Do you know what your OB is planning to do to get you started?
I went in around the same time of day. We started with cervidil. When I got there they started me on a monitor and told me I had already started some contractions, yay! Cervidil in around 7. Within a few hours my contrax were strong enough for me to notice and the cervidil was enough to kick me into natural labor.
I labored on my own overnight. OB checked me around 7 the next morning and was thrilled, I made it to 4cm 80% effaced already. He said, wow you were in labor all night - you should have told them to call me! How was I supposed to know, I'd never done this before I didn't really call the nurses at all that night b/c it wasn't anything I couldn't handle. The only time they came in was when the monitor slipped.
So we didn't need pitocin since my labor was going great on its own. Around 11 he checked me again and my water broke when he did that. Lots of muconium (baby poo) and a lot of my water came out - too much came out - so they pumped some saline back in to cushion baby. OB said not to worry, but he's going to keep a really close eye on me and baby b/c of the poo.
After my water broke OMG did the contrax change - instantly more than I could handle. After about an hour and a half of absolute hell the man with the good drugs came in and took care of me. Didn't numb me too much, just gave me enough to take away pain so I could still feel things and push. They went ahead and gave me a small amount of pitocin just to make sure things don't slow down, he wanted the baby out by dinnertime b/c of the poo in my uterus.
A few hours later I got checked again, around 330. I was 9 cm, contracting to 10 and 100%. OB said he'd be back in about half an hour to start pushing. I told him to come back about 5 minutes later b/c my body started pushing without me, lol... baby hadn't even entered the birth canal yet, but I pushed her out in 20 minutes.
If she hadn't pooped in me the pit probably wouldn't have happened. And if I had rememberd all those things they taught me in childbirth class about moving around instead of laying in bed suffering I probably wouldn't have gotten the epi either, but oh well, next time!!
Cervidil the night before, pitocin at 6:30am, Dr broke my water at 9am, got the epi right after, fell asleep, woke up at 6cm and about 1 hour later was ready to push. I pushed for about 10 min and she was here. I couldn't have asked for a better delivery. GL!
Pitocin started at 8:00 am. I was already five cm at that point and didn't know it. Epidural at 2:45. Water broken at 3:15. I was at ten cm at 5:00. Started pushing at 5:05. He arrived at 6:45.
Went in at 41 weeks with no progress. Cervadil at 7pm, next morning only a fingertip dilated and 50% effaced. No progress on the max dose of pitocin, so we had a c-section and baby was born at 7:10. Apparently I was immune to pitocin...good luck tomorrow!!
I went in at 6pm and was started on Pitocin and had a balloon catheter put in right away. I was in labor for 17 hours, but had to have an emergency c-section. DD's head was too big to fit through my pelvis which is why I wasn't progressing.
I was 40 wks and 5 days when I was induced! I got to the hospital at 6am, they started me on pitocin around 8:10, the doc came and broke my water around 930, started having stronger contrax about 10 min later, got the "good stuff" at 11:25, took a nap lol, was at 9cm and ready to push at 2pm and DD arrived at 3:13. Honestly, it wasn't bad at all.
Cervadil at 8pm & started pitocin at 9am...Water broken at 11am...Got the epi around noon. I progressing slowly & only made it to 4.5 cm by 7:00pm. The babys head was to big for my pelvis so I hada c-section & baby was born almost exactly 24 hours after getting cervadil.

She said they were going to use Cervidil.
