9 Month Appt today....

My little, little boy......Today we had Reid's 9mo appt and he's now down to the 9% (17lbs 13oz)in weight, 43% in height (28in) and 17th % in head. Dr basically told me to feed him all day and add butter/olive oil to his food. We go back for a weight check in 2 weeks and if he isn't gaining then they want to start running tests (to see why he's gone from the 53% at 4 months to now the 9%). Hopefully he'll gain some weight!

  • Good luck over the next two weeks. I'm hopeful that Reid will pick up some weight. I'd hate for him to have to go through tests. Please keep us updated.

  • Does he like avocados?  Those are supposed to be really fattening and healthy too.

Other than the weight issue, is Reid doing great?

  • Sorry you got bad news honey!!! I am hoping all these suggestions do the trick. Have an ice cream cone yourself ;o) We need to try for lunch next week.
  • Aww, poor Reid!  I hope he's able to pack on some weight the next two weeks and doesn't have to go through all those tests.  Friends of ours had to do the same with their little girl, cook everything in butter and it helped, but I do think it took a little bit of time.  Good luck lady/Reid!

  • I'm sorry that you are having issues.  Honestly, that seems weird to put everyting in  butter and olive oil.  Some babies are just small, and wasn't Grant the same way?  You know Carloline is low in the percentiles, and I think she has just gone through a growth spurt because she really looks to have filled out in the past few weeks.  So maybe he will just gain a little later?  Of course I'm not doctor, but it seems like forcing them gain weight by giving them a lot more fat (whether or not its "good" or "bad" fat) just doesn't seem right to me... maybe its normal though?  I would think that so long as he's getting plenty to eat and reaching his milestones he should be fine.  I hope everything works out for you guys!

Don't worry Brandi!  As long as Reid is growing you have nothing to worry about.  Some babies are low on the scale but that is not a bad thing as long as they are growing.  Keep us updated!

  • I am sure he will be a big guy in no time.
