I can't get my 6 week old to take a nap in her crib for more than 30 min swaddled or not, but she will sleep hours in a bouncy. Any advice on helping to change this habit?
When she wakes up, don't pick her up. When I was transitioning DS from the bassinet (which vibrated) to his crib, I would go in and put my hand on his tummy and move him gently side to side until he calmed down, then I would leave the room. If he began to cry, I would give him about 3 minutes then go back in. In the beginning it would take 3 or 4 rounds of doing this until he would fall back to sleep. Now he takes 4 hour naps in his crib.
I usually go rub my DS's back (he is a belly sleeper) and usually that works. If he is really fussing though and I know he isn't hungry or wet a little dancing around the house while singing the hokey pokey always puts him in a deep sleep.
