I saw your post about the cheerios and how your pedi recommended the cheerios vs the puffs... I hadn't heard that, but it makes sense.
Avery hates hates hates the puffs. She gags and spits them out, she doesn't even TRY to consume them.
However, she likes the cheerios. She actually tries to chew them and eat them (if I give them to her - she's still not picking it up yet).
my only concern, is that I thought I had read somethigna bout not introducing wheat before a year? But that doesn't make any sense to me either, so I have no idea. Especially if it's because of the gluten because Oatmeal has gluten in it.
it's so confusing
Re: kelly & marty
Have you tried different flavors of Puffs? DS hates the banana ones, but he liked another flavor they had at Daycare (I forget which one). At home we just do cheerios. And now that he's older, also goldfish, animal crackers, etc. We also started yogurt melts pretty early on, soon after he mastered cheerios. He loves loves loves them. Early on I'd break them in half, they dissolve very quickly too. They're actually really good, my aunt asked if they made them for adults after trying them!
I've never heard that about wheat. When we started on finger foods at around 9-10 months, one of his favorites was whole wheat toast (still is). Maybe if you had a wheat allergy in your family, you'd have to be careful? Hmmmm, not sure about that. Anyway, as I said, at the 6 month check up, my ped ok'd cheerios and those types of early finger foods.
I'm gonna go see what wholesomebabyfood.com says about wheat.
Here's wholesomebabyfood.com's take on wheat:

Doesn't really answer your question about cheerios, though it does explain about gluten.
none of us have any allergies so I am not as concerned with the wheat but it is a "high allergen" food - same with gluten in general.
it's just interesting I guess
