Moms of toddlers in a big kid bed...I need help

Re: Moms of toddlers in a big kid bed...I need help

  • Gabe did well for the first 3 weeks - no wakings.  But for a while now he has been getting up 2-3 times per night.  We have his door gated, so he will sit and cry by the gate.  DH was put in charge of getting up with him and it kept getting worse (I think he liked that Daddy would wake up and put him back in bed).

So, just last week we started shutting the door.  He will cry from behind the door for 5 minutes or so and then stop and fall asleep.  Most mornings I open the door and hit him with it - so it makes me sad that he is falling asleep on the floor and staying there, but at least he is soothing himself back to sleep.

Also, Gabe is still teething, so that has something to do with his wakings.

  • Teagan did this too.  It took a few weeks of her getting used to the bed before she slept through the night.  Sometimes she will still wake up and holler at me from her doorway (we have a baby gate up) and I just tell her to get back in bed and she usually does.

We only had Teagan in a toddler bed for about 6 months and then when we moved we put the crib/toddler bed combo in the nursery for when Kelsey got here, and Teagan sleeps in a really cute daybed.  I think moving and putting her in a new bed probably threw her off for a bit at first, but now I think she is waking up and maybe getting scared.  I have noticed that lately she is afraid of a lot of things....thunder, bugs, etc.

  • Blake did this too. He has been in his twin bed for about a year now, so it's finally getting better. I've noticed that the more I wear him  out during the day, the better he sleeps.

Yeah, she has a super cute daybed. Her room looks great!

Yesterday she napped in the big bed and Julia slept in the crib! WHOOT!

    Now for night sleeping...
