babies and cabs-NYC

in Babies: 0 - 3 Months

So we have read the laws about babies, carseats, and cabs in NYC (we are going to visit family on Thursday for a week) and I know we don't have to install her carseat each time we ride in a cab and can have DD on our laps, but I'm still nervous about it. Has anyone done this? Ease my nerves! I'm already nervous about flying and we have always rode in cabs when we are there, but with DD I'm nervous to just hold her! Confused

    It happens everyday in NY.  If you don't feel comfortable, then rent a car.

    I used to live in the city....I would NEVER drive in a cab with my kid on my lap. Cab drivers (esp in NYC) are much more careless when driving then most people.

    You can buckle the seat in without the base...if you practice you will probably be able to do it pretty quickly. before you go...practice buckling the car seat in using just the belt.

    Which is why I said to rent a car.  When was the last time you heard about something happening to a child in a cab?
