If you had to give up dairy to BF....

Did your pedi mention if there is a point at which you can start to re-introduce dairy into your diet? Or are you pretty much off of dairy until you stop BFing?

I'm going to ask DS's pedi at our appointment next week (Ugh... he's totally handsome & I get totally flustered talking about anything boob-related with him -- LOL) -- but I was wondering what anyone else had been told.

  • I haven't gotten this far w/ pedi yet. she did say that they become more tolerable of things around 9 months. I know that the gut starts to heal and become more tolerant around 6 months as well. So I am hoping there is hope! :-)

  • My pedi said we would discuss it at DS's 6 month check up.

I started adding it back in at 6 months.  He does fine as long as its small amounts
  • We have seen two different pedis in the practice... one we see for checkups and one we saw when we went in because we saw the blood in his stool and she helped us to diagnose the milk proteiin intolerance.  When I asked her about them growing out of it, she said that she waited till a year for her son, BUT she gave up breastfeeding early on and was giving him formula.  When we go in for our next checkup, I'm going to ask that pedi.  Hopefully he gives me a better answer than a year... I am determined to make it that long but it still seems so far away...
