First name for the nickname Mica

Dh and I agree on the nickname Mica but can not agree on the first name. He likes Micole, which I hate and I like Mikayla which he hates. Any suggests on other first names?

Micah is a name in it's own right, although its more traditionally a boy's name (wheras, fyi, "mica" refers to a type of mineral).

Sorry, but Mikayla = nms & Micole = really, really not my style.

ETA: Sorry, have just noticed that "Mica" is a feminine spelling of the name "Micah".

Naming a girl Mica takes me back to geology lab, wherein my jock lab partner found it hilarious that "mica (the mineral) has cleavage." As pp said, Micah is a perfectly respectable name, but for a boy (it's the name of a minor prophet from the Old Testament).

Micole is ridiculous and has the added bonus of reminding me of meconium.

Michaela is a beautiful name. Mikayla looks trashy.

Mica was the name of my first guinea pig. Like PP said, it works great on it's own. It's not a "childish" nn that would require a more adult name in the future (like Lilly/Lillian), so she'll be able to use it both in a casual and professional way. Though I'd spell it Micah.

If you really want something longer, I love Michaela.

I like Micah. You don't need a nickname. Just, whatever you do, don't use Micole. It's like...Mennifer or Mindsey or something. Ugh.

I know a little girl named Micah. I think it's cute, and even though it is traditionally a boy name it works for girls as well.

The nm Mica is pronounced mE-ka so it isnt like the mineral.

I personally hate Micole, but a girl he had in class that had that name and goes by Mica and has loved the name ever since. ?I too think that someone just messed up the spelling of Nicole and never bothered to change it.

And I agree with the other poster who said Mikayla is trashy, it really is. Michaela is the ONLY acceptable spelling that even makes this name tolerable in my opinion

My name is Micah. I love my name and get compliments on it all the time. So if you want to call your child Micah or Mica, please just use the name. IMO Micah is not a nickname.
