Frustrated searching for non-toxic products

I am becoming so frustrated with my search of  'non-toxic' products.  I originally planned to use Burt's Bees as I thought it was safe, however after researching, I have found that not true. Angel Baby & California Baby seem to have good ratings, however, here in Canada I am looking at $25 for a small bottle of baby wash and just don't have that in the budget right now. I recently purchased a bottle of Live Clean (baby) shampoo & wash as it appeared to exclude everything toxic but when I searched the ingredients online I find that it has phenoxyethanol which is considered toxic.  It also seems that every list of toxic chemicals seems to have ones different than the next.  What do you use or follow that makes you feel that you are doing the best you can?

Thank you!

FWIW a bottle of baby wash lasts me a year per child.

What did you find about Burt's Bees?  (Using that now).

It seems to me that if it's not one thing, it's another.  I may try California Baby but their regular line I think contains lavender, and now I'm scared about using products with lavender on a boy (see article)!  Their sensitive one may not though...

I tell you, it's always something...

  • I imagine you could just use water if you really wanted... Although that probably has all kinds of crap in it, too! :)
