Babies: 0 - 3 Months

4 months and still not STTN

My DD is just about 4 months old and she still wakes up twice a night. O know all babies are so different, but I thought by now her sleeping would be better,

She generally sleeps for 4.5-5 hrs at first, I feed her and she goes back to sleep quickly but only for about 2-3 hrs, if I'm lucky.

Any suggestions?? Thanks

I am in the same boat.  We are starting to back up his bedtime to see if that works.  Honestly though, it doesn't really bother me.

  • That sounds pretty good and well within the normal range to me.  My first DD didn't do that until she was 10 months old!  I think that the impression we get on here is that everyone's babies put themselves to sleep and sleep all night practically out of the womb, but I think that either many of them aren't being 100% truthful, and/or that this isn't a representative sample of "real life."
  • my LO out of nowhere started sleeping through the night from 1030ish until about 9 each morning. Last night we couldn't get her down until midnight and woke up at 7.  I could have just had some good weeks. Who knows. I hope your little one sleeps through the night soon!
  • My dd is 6 months and STILL doesnt!!! :::sigh::: GL

  • My DS is one week younger than your DD and we are literally on the same sleep cycle. For a few weeks he would go down for 4-5 hours and then do 3-4 hours but for some reason the last few nights he has reverted back to only going down in 3-4 hour stretches and his naps are only like 45 min to an hour right now. He is swaddled, clean diaper, full belly, ready to sleep and can't seem to stay down or even put himself to sleep for that matter. We still have to rock him to sleep for about 10-15 minutes to get him down. We have the baby crack machine and nothing seems to help him stay down.
  • DS will be 5 months soon and he's still waking up once a night.

  • This is completely normal. Most babies do not sttn at that age. She is hungry, and you need to feed her. My dd was still waking up in the night to eat until 8 mos.

I couldn't agree with this more. DD didn't start sleeping through the night until 6.5 months, and with the babies I know in real life that was on the early side. Out of the 50 or so babies of my friends and family, only 1 slept through the night by 2 months. Yet on here it seems like most do. I definitely don't think the Bump is a representative sample.?
