Ugh!!! My DD got her first diaper rash. I think I got it under control this weekend but it was no fun for either of us. Anyone have some good suggestions on what to do to keep away?
I really glob on a layer of Boudreaux's Butt Paste before bedtime. During the daytime, I make sure she's powdered and dried really well before a new diaper. Other than nighttime, she never really gets left in a badly wet diaper.
My DS had his first diaper rash at 1 week old we always put on diaper cream whenever we change his diaper. I tried stopping for a few days and he got the rash back so I just always put it on as protection.
we had a pretty nasty rash already too and after liberal application of desitin, the rash went away. we've been using plain old vaseline as a preventative instead of the desitin. so far it's working great! not only has the rash not come back, it makes poop cleanups a breeze. DH says it's like teflon for DS's bum.
your lucky it took her so long! DD had horrible diaper rash when she was 3 weeks old. I'm a huge fan of triple paste. Just glob it on and it works really well. We us regular desitin with every diaper change
We use Desitin. Also when she is rashy, my pedi said to wipe her down with a washcloth instead of using fancy wipes..
FYI if it doesn't show any signs of improvement after a few days, it could be a yeast infection.. My LO had a "diaper rash" and we were using creams, powder, letting her air dry, etc and when we went to the pedi for her 2 weeks appt, we found out it was a yeast infection. He gave me a new cream and it disappeared the next day. Apparently yeast infections are common in baby girls..
Yes we are lucky it took her until 4.5 months to get one. She had diarrhea on friday so Im sure thats what caused it. She daycare checks the diapers every hour for wetness or poo. So I dont blame them, its just no fun.
Also when you put the creams on do you get it all through the butt and the front?

I agree it does help with diaper changes!
I slather the cream all over her. Front and butt.. Any place that looks slightly red. I figure it can't do any damage, I'm just wasting the cream!
